Introduction[edit]

Blackjack squad was born out of a dying Dark Dragoons squad. The Blackjacks are the main Assault unit of the STC.

As of the end of the 2009 Elite Squad Competition, Blackjack was moved to Wildcard and was anointed the "Elite Squad."

After being led by, first, Tanus Solvona and, second, Garryll Gates for a long time in which the squad was given assualt-based tasks, it eventually fell under the leadership of Valthir in 2012. Around this time, many of the squad members took up different specialities, and the squad shifted its classification, now being known as the Diverse Assualt squad. In the summer of 2012, Valthir left, leaving the Squad Leader role to Crest.

New Trooper Introduction[edit]

If you're a new trooper who has gone through the Academy and been placed in Blackjack, then, first off, welcome!

Second, you may want to get on IRC. If you have an IRC client or if you do not have knowledge how to use IRC, then you will want this. Even though mIRC is free (though you may have to wait a few seconds after it expires, but just wait a few seconds and it will let you continue), you can use the VE's JavaChat if you do not have an IRC client. The Blackjack channel is #Blackjack.

Third off, create a wiki page for your character. It does not have to be elaborate but it really helps in your fellow squad mates to write what your character is doing correctly. If you need help creating your wiki page, most members in the squad know how to create a wiki page and will be glad to help you. In addition, the Character Page Tutorial is a wiki page which will guide you step by step in creating your wiki page.

Fourth, add yourself to the squad roster below as an attached trooper.

Attachment Promotion Policy[edit]

Unlike most of the squads in the STC (Stormtrooper Corps), Blackjack has a unique policy when deciding whether to give attachment troopers full trooper spots. The policy is as follows:

1. An attachment must post 3000 words to earn a trooper spot.
1a. The Squad Leader (SL) has the ability to disregard any post from this word count.
1b. While the Assistant Squad Leader (ASL) and troopers cannot throw out a post from the word count, their advice will be taken very seriously.

2. Until the time an attachment reaches a trooper spot, they may not be considered by the SL/ASL for promotions or medals.
2a. However, their first promotion/medal may be the same day that they earn their trooper spot.

ID Line[edit]

Make sure to change the PVT to your appropriate rank acronym. You can find the appropriate acronym here

Specializations[edit]

Each squad in the STC has its own little niche where it is the it squad to call out for the fight. It was referenced above that Blackjack is the 'Diverse Assualt' squad. Essentially that means that when we face an enemy we have multiple ways to neutralize the threat (eg. Utilizing a sniper rifle, explosives, heavy weapons, etc.).

The only way we can fulfill this is if each member of the squad has a specialization. Therefore, it is recommended that each squad member have a specilization, even if it is not a combat-oriented specialization. It takes many different specilizations to run this squad effciently (eg. medic, explosives, heavy weapons, shocktrooper, special forces, sniper, urban warfare specialist, slicer, etc.). Most of the time, the squad will not have every possibility covered, an effect of not running at full 9 trooper strength [if we reach that spot and the other squads are like that, a new squad will be opened (which is a great milestone marker for the Army), so still we will not be running at full strength]. Yet, we know this and will accomodate for this. This is what embodies the Blackjack spirit. We will push on ahead no matter how the squad changes. Diverse Assualt allows for this.

First off, you will want to visit Army Specialization Program's main page. You will probably be looking over the various stuff with no idea of what is going on. Therefore, you will want the Getting Started page. Now to put those two pages together. There are five levels of specs. Ancillaries are the minor stuff that is too minor to open up an entirely new X.1 and X.2, or higher, tree or else they will be only used in stories sporadicaly. They are are marked by the A prefix (eg. A9, A8, A1). Also, as a general rule, these are Level 0 specs. From here come the X.1 specs. These are generally Level 1 specs and lay the foundation to build upto Prestiges, Focus, and, more immediately, X.2 specs. These are used more often in stories. X.2/3 specs generally are Level 2 specs and represent half-way rare talents that most people do not have but a good number do. These are used more often than ancillaries, but less often than X.1. Yet, a trooper with an X.2/3 spec often has become an integral part of the squad's fighting style by either directly complementing it or else supporting it and filling in the gaps. Next come the Prestige specs, marked by the P prefix (eg. P1, P6, P3). These are the rarest specs and mark the trooper (both in story and out) as one of the best. Often, these are more evolved versions of one X.2/3 spec or two X.1 specs. They also require ancillary specs to further evolve the X.2/3 spec or the two X.1 specs. Lastly, there come the Focus specs. These are the 'ancillaries of prestiges'. They are a less strenous prestige. These are more important than the X.2/3 specs but not a prestige.

On the Getting Started page, you will surely have found the activty requirements. By definition, you must have surpassed these separately before you may post the spec. By un-definition, you must have spent those many weeks in active duty in the Corps since your last spec or entrance and you must have posted that many times, but not necessarily within that time frame. And, since definitions can be confusing, examples follow. Assume that the requirements are 4 weeks by 10 posts.

A) A trooper has spent exactly four weeks and made exactly 10 posts. He is good.

B) A trooper has spent eight weeks and made exactly 10 posts. He is good

C) A trooper has spent exactly four weeks and made 14 posts. He is good

D) A trooper has spent three weeks and made exactly 10 posts. He is not good. He must wait one more week.

E) A trooper has spent exactly four weeks and made 9 posts. He is not good. He must post one more time

F) A trooper has spent three weeks and made 9 posts. He is not good. He must wait a week and post one more time

When you post a spec and it passes, you must from the moment after you post it re-fulfill the requirements for your next spec.

But there is always exceptions. Focuses and Prestiges requirements are counted on your lifelong contributions. They do not reset with each spec you do.

Once you're ready and have met the requirements, post the spec story (or stories) in a new topic on the Specialty Storynet. From there ask for your spec to be graded via the appropriate topic, and wait patiently. Specs represent the best of our writing, and therefore are graded with a microscope. This is especially true as you grow older in the club. Your stories will be graded harder than your first-ever spec.

If you are a new trooper, you may be wondering what if the spec you want is (a) already taken or (b) not in prestige/focus form. In Case A, do not worry. In fact, the other trooper will be more the glad to have another person who understands their job, and, should you ever need help, it is more than likely that the other trooper will be glad to help you. In Case B, again, do not worry. Our older specialization system had only five main branches with five more advanced branches that required a certain main branch. This system was dropped in favor of a more modular specilization system. Though some of the specilizations have specilizations that must be completed first, in the majority, you can pick and choose what you want, creating a highly dynamic character. In example, one trooper wanted to be a P3 Shocktrooper, but wanted to have access to heavy weapons. He took 3.1 and proceeded to be a Shocktrooper. In this way, his character was unique. Feel free to do the same. Such creativity is the hallmark of this specilization system.

Still confused? Perhaps it may help to think of the VE as a RPG "game" with a leveling system. In it, you have your PC (Player Character). For you, everybody else is an NPC (Non-player Character). Now, on Day 1, your character is not going to be somebody who omnipotent and can do anything. You will have to earn "experience" (in the form of time spent and posts), before you can "level up". When you finally "level up", you get a new "power/skill" (A spec). The only thing unique about our leveling system is that you have to do a "quest" to earn it.

So, with all these fine details and stuff, why should you even do a spec? Wouldn't it be better just not to bother with all this stuff? WRONG!!! Specs are a crucial part of how the army runs. We (the members of the club) are an elite group of stormtroopers on the cutting-edge of technology. We are sent on missions which can be traumatic for a regular stormtrooper. Specs forge your character into one elite stormtrooper in a group of the elite. OOC, specs show your dedication to the club and are one of the most visable markers of activity.

Should you have questions about the specilization system feel free to ask a fellow Blackjack member over IRC or send a PM to your SL and ASL.

Squad Trooper Character Development[edit]

An idea shamelessly plundered from Raiders. (Because lets face it... it's really good.) Character Development is edited weekly/biweekly (in theory) by each member of the squad so that they can keep track of their characters feelings, emotions, and state of mind easily. It also helps to keep other squad members informed of their squad mate's behaviors. Former member's Developments can be found here.

(SL)Skarr[edit]

Position: Squad Leader

Age: 23

Species: Human

Summary: A loyal man to both the Empire and his squad mates, Has a brand of sarcastic humor in dangerous situations, Tries his best to be a fair leader, Skarr is usually able to adapt to any situation, except for the most desperate, Like everyone else, Skarr hates mess hall food, One of Skarr's biggest pet peeves are people who disobey orders, Skarr trusts anyone who has his back

Due to a strict training regimen, along with the countless amounts of missions Eclipse embarks on, Skarr is muscular and very healthy. His hair is shaved short, and he only allows his beard and mustache to grow to stubble before shaving it all down again. A scar he received when he was younger stretches from his left temple to his cheek. He is tall, but not overbearingly so. In his armor, he is an intimidating sight to both those who know him and his enemies. He has the appearance of a very fatherly man when around his squad and not in battle.

(ASL)Drexhel[edit]

Position: Assistant Squad Leader

Age: 19

Species: Human

Summary:Drexhel in the barracks or the lighter side of battle could be classed as a reprobate,he enjoys deliberately antagonizing people especially when it gets a rise out of command, his distaste for authority will often bring him trouble, he considers himself witty but rarely meets the standard as his brand of humor is often more offensive and annoying to people lacking of his unorthodox opinions. he rarely listens to opinions, suggestions or important information, he'd rather follow the simple orders on field than the long hauled mission detail. He is sadistic and this quality intensifies during pressured situations such as pre/post battle or when the mission doesn't suit his comfort zone of misbehaving in a lighter environment. During the heavier parts of missions his attitude adjusts to one of a more loyal standing, he will still incorporate brash methods into his given orders as to him the ends justify the means, on earning his respect he will become more light of heart towards said persons requests, though he will still take advantage when he can pull their strings, he is instantly judgmental of any new acquaintance and will treat them with a detached hostility. Drex will throw caution aside when he is placed in a strained situation, this will at times cause him injury or to be reprimanded.

Standing at five foot 8 weighing 186 pounds Drexhel is not a large man nor is he a small man. His out grown short back and sides hair cut is Dark brown in colour. He has a low brow line making hi look as tho he is constantly frowning. Three notable scares one 4inch slash across the upper abdomen, blaster burn on lower back near left kidney and electrical burn from Right hand to right shoulder.Bright green almond eyes and a short bristled teenage stubble.

(Trooper)ShanneTwoo[edit]

Position: Trooper

Age: 19

Species: Human

Summary:She’s got a feisty, semi-mischievous personality. She doesn’t like when people are moody, and is generally in a good mood. She hates being patronized, has an initial distrust/severe hate of Chiss, thanks to Thrawn, which she later overcomes, thanks to Therex. She hates having fingerprints on touch-screen objects and is, in fact, rather OCD about it. She has a nervous habit of nail-biting.

Terre Rae is a short, lean human with medium-length brown hair, which has natural blonde streaks in it. Her most distinguishing feature is her eyes, which are normally hazel, but change color according to her mood, ranging from a light green when mischievous to dark brown when upset. She has a light scar that bisects the latter half of her right eyebrow. She has dimples when she smiles, and she does often. She prefers to wear cargo pants and skin tight shirts, and hates when outfits get in the way. Her preferred footwear is boots, which she had modified to sheathe her knives. She rarely wears dresses of any sort. When she's on the job, she wears typical stormtrooper armor. She has no tattoos as of yet, though no promises that she won't. She also has no truly prominent scars.

(Trooper)Karash[edit]

Position: Trooper

Age: 20-something

Species: Kuati (humanoid)

Summary: Karash is generally a quiet person that does not enjoy the company of people he does not know well. He will completely ignore a person if he does not know them and even if he does know them, he will quite often ignore them. With people he knows Karash will often seem defensive, rude, untrusting and sometimes cruel. However the people, who know him well, know that he does his best to help when they need it and his sarcasm is merely a defence mechanism. Karash is rude to most people but when he is rude to the people he likes, there is often some grain of wisdom at the bottom of it. Due to his upbringing Karash will often appear snobbish and arrogant though this is unintentional and something he tries (often unsuccessfully) to suppress. He will often pass a comment on something before he has realised what he is saying.

Karash will always try to give the impression that he is a sophisticated and intelligent individual. However due to his neurotic nature he will often look as though he is in a state of panic. He is incredibly observant and will often make it his business to state what he sees, even if it is in the bleakest terms possible. Though when it comes to self-awareness he completely blind.

(Trooper)THX-1138[edit]

Position: Trooper

Age: 23

Species: Chiss

Summary: Therex is a recluse, avoiding contact with others whenever possible. He is the kind of person who would rather be alone, or with his pet Varactyl and Katarn, than with anyone. There are few exceptions to that rule. Unlike most doctors that he has worked with, Therex is very lax on the philosophy of doctors not causing harm to others. He believes that sometimes pain can be the best medicine. However, he isn't heartless. Typically, he avoids creating attachments and feelings, but some people find their way into his life. He has grown very attached to a member of his squad, Terre Rae. He was very protective of her, much like an older sibling.

Like most of his species, Therex has dark blue skin that takes on several tints, ranging from light teal to a light purple, depending on his mood. His hair is black, and he usually just lets it hang at his neck, scruffy but kept clean. He normally hides it under a black fedora anyway. His eyes, including his left one, which is a prosthetic, are an almost fluorescent red, appearing to glow in the right light. His preferred clothing is a combat undersuit, khaki pants, and a black T-shirt. He also has an oversized trench coat that was made specifically for him, by Faska Maroni, a good friend of Therex's. It is made of special materials that repel most elements, and can absorb small amounts of low power blaster fire. It is lined with pockets and sheaths that Therex can hide any number of weapons and equipment in. Being over-sized, he can wear it over armor, even with his 6'6" bulk. In a recent fiasco, he lost his right leg. However, he had enough connections that he was able to get a prosthetic made up to look exactly like his old leg. The few differences can only be seen up close. It has two compartments, one which usually contains medical supplies, and the other either has one of his revolvers, or his much-favored electro-staff.

(Trooper)Jamasis[edit]

Position: Trooper

Age: 20ish

Species: Human

Summary: Jamasis is incredibly insecure about himself at this point in time. He's suffering from amnesia due to some (obviously unknown) trauma, but is well aware of the fact that the first time around he went insane. So to overcome this he's become much more dedicated to training and focused in the hope it won't happen again. Various items might trigger slight memories or feelings, but nothing big is going to happen in any army stories in the near future.

If you write him, he's fairly annoying some of the time and acts rashly in combat. He's terrified of his memories, but that will just manifest itself as being unsociable (usually) when talking to people. But barring Jamasis donning a pink rabbit suit and charging an AT-AT with a small spoon you can't go wrong writing him.

(Trooper)Hammerhead[edit]

Position: Trooper

Age: 21

Species: Human

Summary: Pending

(Trooper)Khalldryn[edit]

Position: Trooper

Age: 23

Species: Barabel

Summary: Khalldryn is above the 98th centile for height and weight for his species, which makes his huge by human standards. Whilst he his strong and fast he is lacks dexterity. This has caused some problems in basic training with equipment usage. Standing two feet taller than the average trooper, many will find it hard to notice any other features beyond his size. Having spent some time in facilities designed for humans he is now quite used to crouching forwards indoors, using his large tail to balance his weight. He often appears somber, accepting his fate as a neceassary duty to his clan. He holds no great love for the Vast Empire, but will carry out the wishes of his clan without complaint. Believing that death in the line of duty may be the best way to regain his honor he may be unwilling to retreat from the field of battle, despite orders - rather perishing that facing further dishonor. When his mood lightens he enjoys the banter common among members of the corps. Many assume his lack of familiarity with advanced technology and brutal appearance betray a lack of intelligence and are suprised when he humiliates them in a game of words.

Blackjack Equipment[edit]

Blackjack Squad has long been known as the go-to squad for when quiet and sneaky is just too darn slow or ineffective.Blackjack is the antithesis of "stealth."

What they lose in the cloak-and-dagger nuances of war they make up for in sheer firepower, mobility and intimidation.

And in the very rare case they are being stealthy... expect huge fireworks at the end of the story.

Squad History

Blackjack has been around since the end of the mission to Strak. After the competition ended, the then Dark Dragoons were given a new name, profile and new gear and moved over to Storm Platoon to even out the squads, giving a 3:3 ratio between both Wildcard and Storm platoons. The squad was created due to a need of new combat unit, and since Urban Operations had not yet been used, it was decided that that would be the new role of Blackjack Squad. Since, however, the squad has been changed to Assault Infantry. The squad won the 2009 ESC Competition, and gained the title of Elite Squad. Ironically, it was then transferred back to its ancestral home of sorts in Wildcard Squad.

Mission Log

Balmorra

Radical Restructuring

Blackjack squad's first mission was to Balmorra, a planet in the mid rim. The object of this mission was to protect delegates in the middle of military negotiations with the planetary government and military that would earn a new ally for the Vast Empire. It soon became apparent, however, that the Blackjack's new profile and gear would be put to the test very quickly.

Operations

The operation was meant to last over the course of a week, but with the imminent riot and near civil war about to erupt, Blackjack squad had to pull the plug early to keep both themselves and the delegates alive. However, the mission turned out to be a success, given that Blackjack squad had helped to successfully quell the uprising and restore order to the planet of Balmorra. However, much of the city was left in ruin. Oops.

Bakura

Clickety Clack

Blackjack's second mission sent them to Bakura, a neighboring planet to the Vectra system. A terrorist attack aimed at both the government and the Bakura Repulsorlift Corp was meant to cripple the planet and have the government sink to the the terrorist group known as Black Dawn. Luckily, Blackjack squad stepped in and prevented the takeover from occurring.

Operations

The operation of Blackjack was three fold: one team was sent to deal with the leader of Black Dawn, while another was sent to help out the military in the city to provide backup and heavy support. Finally, the last team was sent to the Bakura Repulsorlift Corp to stop the terrorists from getting a new turbolaser pulser capable of rendering a skyscraper to dust with one shot. The mission was a success, and the terrorists were routed, while the pulser remained safe and under the control of the Bakurans.

Kolstor

Hidden Agenda (Storm Platoon)

Storm Platoon was deployed to Kolstor for overt and covert reasons; publicly, they were simply guarding Imperial Dignitaries, while behind the scenes, the three squads caused massive chaos to enrage and discredit the New Republic forces stationed there, who were also trying for the planet's favor.

Operations

There was a quadruple objective presented for Blackjack squad: terrorize the public, make and break riots, provide a blanket of security, and act as opportunities presented themselves. This was the first time that Blackjack had acted as part of a larger force, and they performed admirably, with the climax of their effectiveness, a raid on the New Republic embassy itself, doing massive damage, killing dozens, and burning down several buildings.

Adumar

Bygone Era

Blackjack's third mission had them deployed onto Adumar covertly. This was because the leading planetary government was hostile to the Vast Empire. Blackjack was to link up with ex-Imperial lead resistence forces and break the back of enemy resistance.

Operations

The objective of this mission was simple: destroy the loyalist ability and resolve to fight. Inserted covertly and led by a local contact to a safe house, Blackjack managed the first stage of their mission perfectly, sending no warning that all hell was to break loose. The day after insertion, Blackjack hit several safe houses and secret police stations. This was the beginning of the war, a war that was over in hours, not days or months or years. A combination of lighting raids, blitzing tanks and fighter craft, and a couple key assassinations of high forces led to the quick and relatively bloodless fall of the Loyalist forces.

Anteevy/Tadeth

My True Enemy Gave to Me... (HSC '08)

Blackjack's second multi-squad mission, it was a multi-location campaign.

Operations

Blackjack was initially to be one of the spearhead squads, the first to land and infiltrate a mercenary base that had been traced to Anteevy. However, before the invasion could begin, Blackjack was called upon to defend the ship against boarders. Once complete, they were re-deployed to the surface, where they infiltrated the base to heavy resistance, burning their way in, and when the call to retreat was sounded, burning their way back out.

After being called back to Tadeth, they assisted Jester squad in hunting down and capturing a slicer, Jak Frozt, and his Noghori bodyguard. Even the two highly trained squads were barely a match for the four alien assassins, but the Stormtroopers prevailed, hunting down and killing all four Noghori and capturing Frozt. The slicer was unfortunately lost before he could be questioned.

Open Space/Unnamed planet

X Marks the Spot

Blackjack was sent on a glorified escort mission. They were sent to secure a transport being shadowed by a pirate vessal.

Operations

Soon after embarking onto the cruiser, they launched to the RV Planet. There, they were about to secure the transport freighter when the two ships came under attack from two Pirate Frigates. The VE Navy easily destroyed one and heavily damaged another, but was disabled in the attempt. Blackjack and a company of marines were sent down to the surface of the planet to secure the transport. After several skirmishes and an all-out battle, Blackjack secured the transport and destroyed the Pirate Frigate.

Tadeth/Vergesso Asteroid Belt

Back To Square One

VE Intelligence were surprised to hear that an unexpected extra pirate ship had appeared during the operations of 'X Marks the Spot.' Blackjack was tasked with determining if there were leaks in the VE Army, Navy, or Intelligence, and then destroy an apparently organized pirate force.

Operations

After investigating the pirate-VE connection, they happened upon a criminal that had connections into the military. They raided his mansion and took him captive, turning him over to the Intel officers that came afterwards. Next, Blackjack made their way into the Vast Empire-Sector Authorities task force that was going to take out the now-located Pirate base. It was headed up by their earlier compatriot, Saul Ipiad. The combined Task force crushed the pirates' space forces and ruthlessly captured the entire base with marginal casualties. Outcome was a handful of prisoners, a pirate space station, and supplies from raided convoys. The Sector Authority officers suffered heavy casualties and were deemed largely useless by their Imperial counterparts, and did not leave on an affectionate note.

Eriadu

The Perfect Storm(Spring Competition)

A multi-objective campaign, Storm Platoon was deployed to the planet of Eriadu to take down New Republic Forces.

Operations

Blackjack first infiltrated the planet by posing as tourists, landing their ship safely in the hanger near the NR Headquarters. The squad made its way to the facility and destroyed its AAA defenses, a series of five Arial Missile Defense Platforms. Having destroyed the guns, Blackjack's backup, three squads from the 37th Battalion landed. Blackjack pulled back to their ship as the 37th attacked. Blackjack suited up and infiltrated the NRHQ via the sewer system and faced moderate opposition. Once they infiltrated the building, they destroyed the guards preventing the 37th Battalion squads from entering the facility. Blackjack was then tasked with seizing one of the 'Big Three' of the NR Defense High Command on Eriadu, a Bothan lieutenant named Marin Collesta. The 37th Battalion squads captured the mainframe and sliced information from it. Blackjack faced the Bothan and her personal squad of SpecForce Commandos, all of whom they defeated and captured Collesta alive.

Eriadu

Devils in the Woodwork

Blackjack, along with the remnants of the 37th Battalion Squads Delta and Echo, are to hold the NRHQ on the planet until support arrives.

Operations

Blackjack squad formed the defense of the NRHQ along with two squads of 37th Battalion soldiers, Delta, a slicer squad, and Echo, a combat squad. These three squads held the facility for three weeks with no combat, setting up traps and preparing fortifications. At the end of the third week, a SpecForce all-out raid including men in jetpacks and armor support assaulted the facility. The three squads were desperately outnumbered but managed to hold their own until they were engulfed and the front door was forced in, leading to SpecForce Commandos inside the facility. They were only saved by the timely arrival of promised reinforcement, two squads of 289th Armored shocktroopers and a squad of 289th Combat Engineers along with MAAT gunship aircover and armor support.

Having forced the forces out of the facility and interrogating a captured enemy, the combined force assaulted a forest base. Fierce resistance came from the New Republic Commandos and troopers in the base, but to no avail; the Stormtroopers cut a swathe through their defenses with a combined-arms assault and managed to plant explosives on the main power generator, destroying the base.

Felucia

Poisoned Paradise

Blackjack is tasked with destroying a Thrawnist bio-weapon and destroying its research staff.

Operations

Blackjack squad dropped from a shuttle onto the jungle planet via jetpacks. After a violent trek through the jungle in which they were attacked by everything from Acklays to Rancors and the native Felucians, bugs, and the foliage itself, they made their way to the Thrwanist base. There, Blackjack confronted and defeated a platoon-strength Stormtrooper brigade and neutralized the bio-weapon. Blackjack also succeeded in executing the entire scientist staff except for the lead brain, who they captured and took hostage. During their extraction, the base was overrun by the native Felucians and Acklay.

Tadath

Crescent Moon, Crimson Sun

Blackjack is to keep order in the post-invasion of Sinat City, which is under marital law. Encountering and putting down mobs of rioters and surviving mercs, they soon find that far more sinister forces are at work in the war-torn capitol...

Operations

Blackjack Squad duly participated in the reconstruction and peacekeeping effort, dealing with the rebellious citizens and mercenaries with true Imperial fervor. Despite unforseen setbacks, several injured troopers, and friction between them and the Army troopers, they quickly completed the assigned task.

Reedex

Blurring Nightmares

Blackjack was assigned to retrieve the mercenary leaders responsible for the incidents on Tadath from their apparent base on the VE planet Reedex and neutralize the traitor presence there, with Platoon Commander Jegora Fal accompanying the squad. Things quickly spiraled out of control.

Operations

Blackjack landed with minimal fuss, which would turn out to be the only part of the plan to go off without a hitch. Splitting up, they ran into numerous groups of mercenaries, eventually taking a farmhouse they had been using as a command post. The squad made its way across the planet, running into difficulties due to its harsh winter and being forced to seek shelter several times. At the orders of Platoon Commander Jegora Fal, they razed a village upon an incident in its bar, killing all the occupants of the building and leaving its residents to seek what shelter they could find.

Eventually, the mercenaries sent a sizable force to find and destroy the squad, leading Squad Leader SFC Tanus to order the commanders' fortress's destruction by orbital bombardment. The base was leveled by a precise strike. The target mercenary commanders were presumably killed in the bombardment.

Arkania/Kohlma

Something Wicked This Way Comes (Halloween Story)

Wildcard Platoon, supported by Storm and Phalanx platoons, is sent to Arkania to disrupt trade and the flow of resources in order to make the Republic an easier target for the VE's inevitable march to Coruscant. Blackjack's mission was to sabotage trade networks.

Operations

Blackjack was launched in a micro-jump towards Arkania. It failed miserably, and they were forced to crash-land on a moon, Kohlma. There, they were beset on all sides by undead creatures (Voshguls) that forced them into a hasty retreat. Eventually, after much blood was spilt, they managed to link up with Wraith, who were being chased by Gora Beasts. Falling back again, they reached a huge structure within which they rendezvoused with Raiders and Iron Horse Squads. Together, the four squads fought their way out and were finally extracted to the Dominion.

Najiba

Traitor

Blackjack was tasked with chasing down a deserting Intel Captain, Brents, who had stolen highly-classified intelligence regarding the scientific observations of the creatures of Kohlma.

Operations

The Blackjacks' new ship Royal Flush was more than up to the task of chasing down the escaping Brents, and quickly neutralized his freighter. After boarding, they killed several dozen mercenaries and forced Brents to flee via an escape pod. They tracked him through a swamp and eventually captured him, taking him back to Tadath for processing.

Tadath

Traitor II

Blackjack, having captured Captain Brents, returns him to the VE Intelligence Agency and waits for its next mission on an orbital defense station. Instead of relaxing and enjoying the downtime, however, the squad ends up learning a good deal more about its members than some of them might be comfortable with...

Operations

After a short wait on the station and a few awkward personal moments, the squad was deployed into one of Tadath's desert regions, assigned as back-up for an Army group fighting dissidents in the area. Brents had revealed information related to a freighter that had been seen landing in the area. The Blackjacks were to help the 14th Army brigade in their on-going efforts to wipe out the insurgents, and hopefully capture the freighter's crew. The squad was presumably successful in its efforts.

Arkania

HSC 2009 - BlackJack

Blackjack Squad is one of the squads assigned to the assault on Arkania, the previous attempt at which had resulted in the Kohlma incident. Alongside two other stormtrooper squads, the explosives-experts of Triton and the scouts of Stalker Squad, the Blackjacks land just outside the enviro-dome containing Arkania's capitol, Adascopolis. From there, they intend to take the city, crushing any resistance from the natives, which will hopefully result in the collapse of resistance elsewhere.

Aggressive Negotiations (Blackjack)

Shortly after the success of the mission to Arkania, Blackjack Squad is given the dubious honour of helping the diplomats persuade the rulers of Abridon that it's in their best interests to embrace the Vast Empire. They decide to go about this by blowing up their factories.
