New Republic Military History[edit]
Del Berik, as intelligence reports detail, grew to loath the Empire due to the way the populace on his homeworld was treated by the local Imperial governor. Given reports of this incompetent retired COMPNOR general, one would be surprised the whole planet did not rise up.
Escaping offworld, Berik enlisted with the Rebellion after the Battle of Yavin and quickly proved himself as a capable soldier.
He was appointed for officer's candidacy after the fall of Coruscant in 7 ABY. Relegated to the strategic backworld of Bimmisaari, he was the ranking officer remaining after Vast Empire troopers raided a New Republic base after their prefect, Josev Dar'Namell, had been kidnapped in a Black Sun/NR SpecForces plot.
Berik was severely injured, including losing his right hand in a fight with Dar'Namell and a Dark Jedi. While recuperating, he was approached by SpecForce personnel as a potential transfer. He agreed and underwent the necessary training.
His first mission was with the legendary [Evan Tra'avis] as XO to a mission to assassinate Grand Admiral Thrawn and other Imperial leadership targets on Yaga Minor. The mission was interrupted by the interference of Dar'Namell and agents of his business, Imperial Center, as well as Wroonian intelligence agents. Losing his other hand to Dar'Namell, Berik managed to escape with Tra'avis, neither of which have yet turned up.
