Biography[edit]

Current Status[edit]

Undergoing Imperial Academy Training

Appearance[edit]

Tarl Drazin stands at 176cm tall, perhaps a little short for a Melida/Daan native. His skin is pale and his green eyes fail completely to hide his intensity and drive to succeed. His chief expression is a sardonic grin, his thin lips a stark contrast to his eyes. His black hair is cut to military regulation, and his face is clean-shaven.

Tarl's left hand is a crude and ancient cybernetic, the model predating even the existence of the Galactic Empire. How he managed to acquire such an ancient piece of technology at his young age when far better medical care is available is an abject mystery.

He has an athletic, slightly muscular build that he works hard to maintain. He is often seen wearing an ancient Daan Grenadier uniform, a relic of a conflict that predates even the Clone Wars. Despite its antiquity, the rebreather system is remarkably sophisticated. Tarl has painted a Death's Head logo onto his Flight Suit's helmet in order to mirror the grinning skull plate on his old rebreather.

Personality[edit]

Tarl Drazin is a survivor of the prestigious Daan officer class, and his breeding shows in countless little ways. Raised to command from a young age, Tarl is always thinking ahead, trying to keep at least two steps ahead of allies and opponents alike. He is composed, calculating and careful, with a keen strategic and political mind.

A thinker, Tarl remains quiet and somewhat reserved from his peers. Many see him as cold, and in a way he is - he has been taught to consider the soldiers he serves with as yet another weapon of war, to be used to maximum effectiveness, and if necessary, discarded. He is often seen gazing into the distance, his mind racing off into the future as he plans, re-evaluates, and forms a plan of action.

Ambition is a large part of Tarl's personality - the man was born to lead, not to follow, and he cannot stand taking orders from those he sees as his inferiors or letting his breeding and training go to waste. As a result, he has firmly set his sights as high up the chain of command as he can, and fully expects to claw his way up the ranks. It is this ambition that inspired his callsign.

History[edit]

Almost all of Tarl Drazin's history is unknown - he certainly is not being forthcoming about the details. According to him, he was born on the planet Melida/Daan, as a part of the Daan faction (which ceased to exist at around 44BBY), and is a graduate from the Daan War Academy (destroyed in the 19th Battle of Zehava, 57BBY).

Tarl claims that he fought in the 19th Battle for Zehava, the very conflict in which the Daan War Academy was destroyed. According to him, this was the conflict that cost him his right hand, and though the cybernetic prosthetic he wears is far older than this, it makes sense that a faction bombed almost back into the stone age would be forced to use sub-standard medical equipment.

Melida/Daan, during the height of the civil war that tore it apart.

There are many parts of his story that check out. Julius Drazin was a Captain in the Daan Grenadiers around the time of the 19th Battle for Zehava, as was Scipio Drazin before him. Tarl appears to have an extensive knowledge of the military strategy that prevailed at around the time of the Melida/Daan civil war, and his accent, mannerisms and strategies are undoubtedly old-fashioned in nature. However, there is one simple fact that throws a considerable amount of doubt on the man's story.

The 19th Battle for Zehava was 69 years ago. If Tarl Drazin was old enough to be a member of the Grenadiers by that time, he would have had to be 14 years old. Tarl Drazin, if his story checks out, should be 83 years old, ancient by human standards. DNA scans, however, reveal that though he is human, he is only 21 years old.

Understandably, a few eyebrows were raised. Tarl was, however, permitted to proceed through the preliminary tests that would show what divisions he qualified for. Tarl failed the physical exam for the Stormtrooper Corps, his preferred choice, but surprisingly passed the qualifications for the prestigious Imperial Academy with flying colours. He has since entered the Imperial Academy for training as a Starfighter Pilot.
