History

Vast Empire Navy

The LCR Burnish has had a unique history as a ship with a relatively high captain mortality rate. Five of its six captain's died after either ramming an enemy ship, often multiple times, or by participating in boarding actions. This suits its most recent captain just fine. The newest captain, a male Mon Calamari by the name of Stewart-Power, was placed in his position after an attack against the Vast Empire Naval Command, including it's former captain. Former captains of the ship were chosen from the most brash, and ultimately risky Naval Officers. Though this isn't necessarily the case with the new captain, but the former pilot doesn't plan on going out in an ignominious fashion.

Crew

The LCR Burnish is primarily crewed by what are effectively army drop-outs. Not able to get into the army for whatever reason, they instead opted to serve the Vast Empire. As such, the crew, while not the most effective, are certainly patriotic, if not very loyal.

Standard Operating Procedures

Watches

The Burnish operates under a standard Watch system, though in practice the actual crewmembers on duty is rather flexible. For instance, it is not uncommon for any two of the Captain, First Officer, and Second Officer to be on duty at the same time due to someone pulling a double shift. Also, during combat situations, off-duty personnel take up one of two roles: damage control or boarding/anti-boarding party.

Primary Watch: Also called the Captain's Watch, because the Captain commands it, this watch is the preferred group for combat operations as well as pulling their normal 8 standard hour shift. They consist of the most experienced and most highly skilled crewmembers. Their normal shift starts at 0600 hours and lasts until 1400 hours.

Secondary Watch: Commanded by the First Officer, this watch covers the afternoon shift and acts as backup in case a Primary Watch member is incapacitated or absent. Their normal shift starts at 1400 hours and lasts until 2200 hours.

Graveyard Watch: Commanded by the Third Officer, this watch covers the remaining eight hours of the galactic standard day. Because of its normal watch time, this watch crew is reduced in number from seven to three. Generally, the least experienced and least skilled crewmembers have to put up with this shift. Their normal shift starts at 2200 hours and lasts until 0600 hours.
