Sovakas Ron is a former privateer captain of the ship Fortunato, and discharged slicer of the Vast Empire Stormtrooper Corps. A native of the planet Cepany, Ron served for several years in the Vast Empire Army until suffering a dehabilitating injury during the Invasion of Arkania. Upon being discharged, Ron was found by Tanus Solvona who employed Ron as a crewman aboard his privateer ship Iron Victory, a privateer vessel which operated within the Osk Company fleet. Though Ron eventually would become a captain within the Osk Company, over time he became distanced from piracy; and eventually fell from public record for some years, appearing only after another period of incarceration and subsequent fugitivity.
As of the current date, Ron's relationship within the Vast Empire network is increasingly tenuous. He is a known member, or former member, of every major faction within the Vast Empire's area of control; and it is additionally rumored (though there is no credible source) that he was training at one time to become a Dark Jedi. He has one known accomplice, a falleen playboy named Tyyzaferenes, with whom he has been known to have committed several petty crimes against Imperial holdings. Neither have, at any time, been affiliated with the Rebel Alliance, or deemed as any kind of threat to Imperial stability in the Vast Empire region.
Ron was probably born in 32 BBY on the planet of Cephany. Rumors vary as to the actual location of his birth, but the most probable location is the Fountain Palace; helm of the Hapan aristocratic world. Though born in the highest of places, he was most certainly the lowliest of subjects, as he had a palace laundry maid for a mother and a young fornicatious baronet for a father. She raised him the best she could, until he came to young adulthood. Around the age of eighteen, the world he had grown up in was beginning to change.
At that time Hapes was an isolationist planet in so far as it was nearly impossible to enter or leave. Just a few decades before Ron's birth, the proposal to open wide the gates of Hapes had been made in large city councils planet-wide, but only recently had it reached the royal court. By the time Ron was eighteen years old, the proposal had grown to a full fledged planet wide debate. It was while Ron was being trained to become a butler, (most men at his time were only allowed to occupy themselves in a service career), the argument over isolationism reached a peak and finally was shot down. Furthermore, the courts gave no reason, other than the state's natural concern for it's people. Rebellious sentiments grew a thousand fold over night.
On Hapan Culture
- "Never let a man become so deluded as to believe that he is the intellectual equal of a woman! It only leads him to evil."
- ―Proverb of the women of Hape
|“|| Hapan culture, at least among the upper classes, was based on assassination attempts and struggles for power. Most upper class Hapans would think nothing of arranging the death of one of their own if it would advance their own cause. Among the royal family of Hapes, its members did not treat their servants well with women being accorded greater respect than men, industrialists afforded more respect than farmers and royalty was given the most respect of all. Thus, the concept of treating one of lower status as an equal was something that was quite foreign to their way of thinking.
The Queen Mother was treated like a goddess by the Hapans, and her selection of a consort was important to all her people. Candidates for the role of consort often came from the nobility, mainly to keep the gene pool vibrant. There were fierce rivalries between many noble houses over which house would get their sons to father the next Queen Mother, and nobles often plotted against both the consort and the heir of the Queen Mother who was not fathered by one of their own. It was because of this that Allana's paternity was kept secret, so all the noble houses would believe that one of their own possibly fathered her and would not harm her.
Due to the matriarchal society of the Hapes Consortium, men were often treated as second class citizens. Although most Hapan males were used mainly for breeding, some held positions of power, although their ability to use it was limited. Some Hapan men who felt trapped by their position in society often ran away and became pirates. These men hid out in the Transitory Mists and preyed on unsuspecting vessels, at least until caught by passing Nova Battle Cruisers. When captured, they would be put on trial, and possibly executed depending on how severe the charge was.

The Bull's Blood
When Ron was 20 years old and nearly finished with his training as an aristocratic serviceman, he was suddenly approached by his fellow students and peers to join what would become famous as the first written word against the Hapan government in the history of the current royal house's reign. He was invited to write for an exclusive, secret journal for male writers only- entitled, The Bull's Blood. Angry himself about the state of affairs, Ron joined and managed to publish four articles. He would have published more, but after his fourth article the group was rooted out, those than ran it were killed, and those journals without pen names were tracked down and killed for their disloyalty. Ron had written under the name of a dead brother.
In 11 BBY a small, yet bloody revolution was started in the royal city of Ta'a Chume'Dan. Instigated by young, rebellious men (most of whom were former writers for Bull's Blood); who because of a long-time deepseated anger towards the feminine grips of control, reacted in the only way that they knew, through brief periods of violence and war. The conflict lasted for two years, ending only with the massacre of rebellious leaders within their own fugitive hiding areas by highly trained secret intelligence officers in the Hapan military. Post rebellion, isolationist and anti-feminist sentiment grew to such a state, that by 8 BBY the Queen Mother declared a state of emergency. In later years the rebellion became known as the Democratic Revolution, and the antagonists, the democrats.
After the rebellion, most survivors of both the Bull's Blood and recent revolution massacres became outcasts and hunted throughout all habitable parts of Hapes. Those that were smart enough to avoid the bounty hunters and military prosecuters were usually forced into piracy, or smuggling. Several illegally licensed ships were manned by hundreds of young rebellious men, who's sole purpose was to spread propeganda and fear. By the year 5 BBY, nearly twenty low-atmosphere cruisers had been seized by democrats. As Ron was one of the few who had been with the rebellion since the beginning, he was instantly invited to serve beneath the captain and new leader of the democratic revolution, Volpus Mal.
Aboard the Justinius
Although he did not serve for long aboard the vessle, four years total, it was aboard the Justinius that Ron was first informally trained in Communications and Slicing techniques. He was taught by amateurs, but skilled amateurs, and was soon made the communications officer aboard the ship. In four years time Ron became a skilled adept with basic and some intricate equipment, and was already very good at making mechanical repairs on most of the ship's equipment. The skills learned during this period formed the basic knowledge that allowed Ron to advance so quickly in the trade in later years.
In 3BBY, on a difficult recon mission, the ship was caught in a crossfire between two Hapan military vessels. It was critically damaged, forced to land in military territory, and was seized by the Hapan military. The entire crew was put to death, and it's officers were arrested and put on trial, where inevitably they were sentenced to be executed for disloyalty to the monarchy. Nearly all the pirates were killed, and the ship itself was reupholstered and served for another 12 years in the Hapan police force. The fall of Justinius was a severe blow to the revolutionary democrats, and is considered to be the definitive end of the Democratic Revolution, as the last eight writers of the now famous propaganda journay Bull's Blood were now captured and sentenced to death. Revolutionary actions continued past the capture of Justinius, and another pirate vessle was renamed Justina out of respect for the lost flagship, but the revolution would never again be as strong as it was, and would die out almost completely by 1BBY.
Rise of ImprialismAll throughout the rebellion, the question of Imperialism and the rise of the Galactic Empire was also being heavily debated and fought over. After the collapse of IDAH, those who were part of the rebellion simply switched their cause, and now pushed for unification with the Empire. For well over thirty years the Hapan people had remained somewhat independant of Imperial control, but as time progressed the pressure to be represented in the Galactic Senate was nearly suffocating for the royal family.
Ron was one of the first of the ex-revolutionaries to join the Imperial ranks. Having narrowly escaped capture and execution, he managed to hide himself with some secrecy aboard an interplanetary trading vessel and smuggled himself off of Hapan. He spent the next four months planet hopping until he reached Tadath, where he enlisted in the Stormtrooper Corps.
Basic Training: Cracking Codes
Ron was placed in basic training, was allowed to begin his specialization training; Communications Technician. As he had passed his tests with applaudable ease, he was given a rather daunting task of breaking gang and criminal codes native to the crime businesses of Corellia. After a few months of investigative study, he had enough of the codes pieced together so as to effectively break the code. He was commended highly for his efforts and remained on Corellia for a longer period than he anticipated for some advanced training in the field.
He was place on some more investigative research, and began saving all the streaming information on datapads and paper charts, receiving boundless information on several things he didn't completely understand, including several repeated names such as "Albatross." and "Serrell". He would have continued his investigative work until one day he discovered that he had a computer was tagged, which basiclly meant that he was being monitored at all times by a root administrator, and not necessarily even by an Imperial admin. Deciding not risk the chance of being caught digging in the affairs of the crime empire, he went undercover. It was only after a few months however, that he was interrupted in his work by an imperial squad and it's commander, Arnaut.
Joining Wraith Squad
Ron completed his investigations in collaboration with Arnaut and Wraith Squad, and after finishing basic training was deployed into the squad as an official squad member. By the time Ron was placed, Arnaut had long been promoted, and was instead lead by Squad Leader, Kanderin Draken. At the time of Ron's deployment, the empire was experiencing administrative and archival difficulties, all traced to a highly suspect fugitive known as J'ak Frozt, who had been running at large throughout the galaxy wreaking havock to the Vast Empire. It was not until a deadly virus was leaked into the Stormtrooper Corps' Computer System, that conflict was fully realized. He was promoted for his bravery during the conflict that followed.
As per his promotion Ron was reassigned to lead Raiders Squad. He lead the squad in several missions, most dangerous of which being on a dense jungle planet called Kalee. Ron developed several relationships in Raiders, most significantly a very strong- brotherly relationship with Havock, or Ayme Katash. The last few missions that Ron lead as Squad Leader in Raiders, (codenamed the "Praexus missions") were aimed at disconfigurating a planets communications system. Ron lead the squad, but midway into the mission he was ordered away from Raiders. He was to be reassigned back to his old squad, Wraith.
Invasion of Arkania
In 9BBY The Vast Empire launched a massive invasion on the planet of Arkania. Now as Squad Leader of Wraith Squad, Ron was ordered to track down the criminal arkanians Demortis and Raasaa, mercenaries hired by the Arkanian Government to protect and defend the city center closest to the invasion point of the Vast Empire forces. Though the mission was technically a success, Ron was wounded horribly in the conflict. A near deadly shot from Raasaa's sniper rifle clipped Ron in the jaw, mutilating the right side of his face. He was temporarily treated, and removed from conflict for emergency reconstructive surgery. After three months of painful recovery, Ron was notified that he was being discharged from the Army, regardless of his wish to remain active within it. But they did not stop there. Ron was imprisoned, for reasons yet unknown to him, and became subject to daily testing. Ron had a feeling, but it was only confirmed when he saw the apparition with his own eyes. The army had created an artificial reconstruction, a human replica droid, that looked just like Ron. As Ron's abilities as a slicer were too advanced to lose, they had simply made him into a retappable database. He was placed in a room, where he was given codes after codes to break. He was mechanized, made unhuman. While he did all the work in his cell, his human replica posed as Ron out in the field. To Ron, it was the cruelest punishment imaginable.
It was nearly a year after the beginning of his living hell that Ron was approached by his old Platoon Commander, Tanus Solvona, who offered him a job aboard his ship Iron Victory. Tanus explained the risks that he had taken to break Ron out of his cell, and as Ron was already of resentment and anger towards the Vast Empire, he agreed to join the privateering company. He joined just as the Oskers retook their home planet of Osk 91, and by helping them retake the planet, Ron was promoted to Captain for his bravery in the conflict. Appointed by the Pirate King Sniping101 himself, Ron was made a Captain and was permitted to fly his own ship, Fortunato. With a new ship, a rebellious crew, and an underthing called Tinker, Ron was finally free in a way he had never experienced before.
