Personality and History[edit]
Uzriel Vash would, at first glance, appear to be as far as one could get from the ideal cannon fodder. Sarcastic, more than slightly disrespectful, and with a somewhat creative interpretation of orders and regulations, Uzriel should have been discharged half a dozen times over. This led to his being demoted almost as soon as he advanced in the ranks, resulting in his status as a Private First Class despite his long service time.
He was an outsider in the closely-knit group of the original Tritons, preferring to keep to himself over socializing with the other troopers. Squad Leader Jeric had filed multiple requests to have him reassigned, but these became lost in several increasingly bizarre administrative errors caused by the neglicence of one Clerk Wintergreen, who had previously been a Private First Class in the Corps. As a result, the Iridonian was still in the squad when the Sergeant went insane and attempted to kill all of its members. As was usual for him, Vash was late to the briefing and therefore arrived in time to see the surviving troopers pulled from the rubble.
Things began to change for him after the squad's reorganization. The new Squad Leader, Hran, had been the only Triton Uzriel had gotten along with, despite the seemingly-vast differences in their personalities and approaches to their duty, and a squad in-joke was that the two were in a relationship. He was assigned to lead the squad's third fireteam, giving orders to the three newest Tritons. Despite his inclinations, Uzriel started to bond with his fellow troopers, cheering up somewhat and becoming more enthusiastic.
Of all the troopers, Uzriel took Hran's disappearance the hardest. He went AWOL three days after the squad leader disappeared, and was arrested by enforcers responding to a triple murder and the resulting gang battle another week later. He had been shot repeatedly by slughthrowers, and it initially appeared as though he would die without ever seeing a cell. He eventually recovered, and was charged with three counts of murder and one count of desertion. Only the desperate pleas of the Triton's third and latest SL, Brock Corzina, saved the then Corporal from the firing squad; as the dead were all members of a violent, illegal gang that was suspected to have ties to Republic agents, this was easier than expected. Brock eventually caused the charges of desertion and the associated death pentalty to be dropped, communted to a demotion. For this, Uzriel respected and was grateful to his former subordinate and friend, never forgetting the service the SL had rendered him.
Although he once again became cynical and somewhat detached, he showed considerable respect to Brock from that point onwards, something that unfortnately didn't extend to the squad's superiors. Although the newer Tritons and outsiders see him as cold and strange, the veterans know him well and trust him to watch their backs.
He was killed during the assault on Arkania's capitol by a blaster cannon round.
