The Devilsquid, along with her sister ship Demonsquid, was purchased by Dracule "Drac" Mihawk using part of a mysterious endowment he received. She is captained by a Twi'lek male named Du'ten and serves in the mainline combat group of Drac's small fleet. Her prefixes include Drac's own MCKV, the Vast Empire's VES, and the Ykntola Order's YOV.
