Brief
The Executor-class Super Star Destroyer Atrus is the flagship of the Vast Empire Fleet. Commissioned shortly after the Vast Empire's creation, the Atrus replaced the Crusader, an old >< as the flagship of the Vast Empire. Historically, it has always been captained by the Naval Commander-in-Chief, however there have been other appointed Captains from time to time.
Construction
Originally Commissioned by Majere (?) the Atrus was actually christened the Mustang upon construction. With the Vast Empire's ship building capabilities limited early on in its life, the High Council at the time had to contract others to build the massive warship. A friendly faction, known only as the MIST Corporation accepted the contract,but to an enormous cost.
Unlike most Executor-class SSD's, the Mustang came with several modifications, which may have attributed to the huge cost of the warship, rumored to be as high as 600 million Imperial Credits. The Mustang had a back-up shield system, which effectively doubled its shield strength, and provided a fail-safe should the exposed shield domes on top of the command deck be destroyed. The hull was also fitted with double the amount of Alusteel. In order to supplement some of the crew, the Mustang was also given compliment of drone TIE starfighters, and the necessary equipment to control them.
Early Career

Despite being the flagship of the Vast Empire, the Mustang was controlled and crewed by the Vast Empire Special Forces Division and later, the mysterious Vast Empire Dark Jedi Order. Little is known of the missions that were performed during these times, however the Mustang did accompany the Navy on missions from time to time.
Eventually however, for reasons unknown, the DJO relinquished exclusive control of the Mustang, and handed it over the Imperial Navy, where it truly became the Flagship of the VE, and the Fleet.

- In real time, the Atrus first entered VE service on May 1, 1999, again under its original name Mustang
- Atrus was a real member of the Vast Empire, and former Commander in Chief of the VE Navy. He was unfortunately taken from this world in August of 2001. A memorial has been set up in his honor. It can be found here - http://atrus.vastempire.com/
