The primary language of the galaxy is Galactic Basic. However, with the myriad of species and cultures in our operational area, more than a solid grasp of the language of the holonets is required to secure the Empire.

Therefore, it is encouraged that you learn one of the many trade and species/cultural languages offered by the Tadath Language Institute.

The following languages - and associated training materials - are currently being offered. Courses are added from time to time so feel free to come back and check for new languages.

  • COM 201-A - Bocce: Bocce is an artificial language used by spacers. It is composed of elements from several languages.
  • COM 201-B - Cheunh: Cheunh is the language of the Chiss species, a dominant force in the Unknown Regions.
  • COM 201-C - Durese: The Duros language remains a popular language amongst space travelers due to the abundance of Duro spacefarers, despite the predominance of Basic.
  • COM 201-D - Hapan: The Hapan language is spoken by residents of the Hapes Cluster.
  • COM 201-E - High Galactic: High Galactic is a prestige language, most commonly used amongst Imperial courtiers.
  • COM 201-F - Huttese: Huttese, the language of the Hutts, is popular among criminals, especially in the (considerable) sections of the galaxy where the Hutt criminal network is powerful.
  • COM 201-G - Mando'a: Mando'a was the traditional language spoken by Mandalorians.

  • COM 201-I - Olys Corellisi: Olys Corellisi ('Old Corellian') was the language spoken by the original settlers of Corellia, becoming extinct around 4,000 BBY.

Baragwinian this was the primary language of the Baragwin people, noted for its usefulness in business and trade.

Binary this was a simple, Imperial language used during the height of the Galactic Civil War.

Bocce a galactic language used on many worlds, Bocce was developed by the Baobab merchant family to serve as the one language which could be used among all the alien and human beings who worked for the shipping corporation. This allowed mixed-species crews to communicate, no matter what race they were from. Over the years Bocce was accepted as a basic form of communications for many settlers and travelers, because of its ease of use.

Bothan this was the native, spoken language of the Bothan race.

Caluulan this was the native language spoken on the planet Caluula, a derivative of the Basic language.

Charm Signing developed on the planet Coruscant, charm signing is a communication method that uses hand signals. Confined to the wealthier families and, later, those with close ties to the Imperial bureaucracy, charm singing involved a series of hand motions to convey a message. In the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, charm signing was used almost exclusively by supporters of the New Order. Many of the New Republic's supporters feared that it would simply become another way for beings to miscommunicate with each other.

Cheunh this was the dense, grammatically difficult language of the Chiss. Written forms of Cheunh did not have defined alphabet, using individual ideograms to represent concepts and combinations of images to represent complex ideas. It was generall believed that other races could learn the Cheunh language, but very few races could pronounce it correctly.

Corporate Sector Contract Standard this is a language used by many businessbeings who work in the Corporate Sector.

Ghi this language was used primarily by traders and smugglers, as a way to communicate without unwanted eavsedroppers understanding.

Honoghran this was the native language of the Noghri race.

Koruun this was the native language of the Korunnai natives of Haruun Kal.

Ubese this was one of the written form of language developed by the Ubese people. It was a secondary language to Ubeninal whenever two Ubese were speaking to each other, and was reserved for discussions with non-Ubese beings.

Zimchai this ancient, written language was used in the documentation of most of the galaxy' medical terms.
