Naval ID Assistance

Overview[edit]
Hello, pilot. So, you're creating your Naval ID Line. Good for you. Your ID Line is something to take pride in. It identifies you as a member of the Navy, and as a member of your unit, among other things. It is also a place where you can showcase your Exam Certifications and Awards and show everyone what you've accomplished in your time in the Vast Empire Navy.
Here is the official ID Line format:
[Position]/[Rank] [Callsign]/[Flight Designation]/S:[Squadron #] "[Squadron Name]"/W:[Wing #] "[Wing Name]"/[Assigned Ship]/TF:[Task Force]/[Fleet #]Flt/[Corps]/VEN/VE [Medals] [Exam Certifications]
Two Things to Remember: One, you likely will not need to use every section of the ID Line format. As a new Trainee, you don't have a Flight Designation, Squadron, or Task Force. Nor do you currently have any Medals or Certifications. The second thing is that you need to keep the / symbols between the sections as they're shown.
The sections new Trainees are to have in their ID Line include:
- Position
- Rank
- Callsign
- Wing#/Wing Name
- Assigned Ship
- Fleet
- Corps
- VEN
- VE
When you move into our training squadron you will add:
- Flight Designation
- Squadron #/Squadron Name
Got Questions?[edit]
We understand if this system has confused you. It's big and it's complex. If you need help, any member of the VENA Staff will be more than willing to answer your questions. If none of them are available, you can also try any veteran Navy member. You can contact these people through a private message on the comnet, a post in your training topic, or through mIRC. The Naval Academy's room is #VENA, and there's almost always a staff member around.
[edit]
Position[edit]
Position: Your position is the role you play in the Navy. For your first ID line, this will be Trainee (Shown as TRN). Callsign[edit]
Your callsign is your character's nickname. It should also be the display name on the ComNet. If you want to use another callsign than what your display name shows, you can contact the Naval High Command about getting it changed.
Flight Designation[edit]
Starfighter squadrons in the Vast Empire use four flights. Each flight is made up of four starfighters, for a total of sixteen. The four flights are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta. Alpha and Beta us A and B respectively, while Gamma and Delta use special symbols. For Gamma the code used is: "&-#915;" (Remove the dash.). For Delta it is: "&-#916;" (Remove the dash). Within each flight there are four positions: 1, 2, 3, and 4. Normally the Flight Leader (FL) will be in the number 1 position, for future reference.
So say you're in Beta flight, position three. This section of the ID Line would read: B-3
Squadron #/Squadron Name[edit]
This is the squadron you're currently a member of. At the moment there are three player-character squadrons in the Vast Imperial Navy: Nazgul, Viper, and Raptor. Nazgul and Viper are combat duty squadrons, flying TIE Interceptors. Raptor is our training squadron, also flying TIE Interceptors.
Each squadron has a numerical designation as its real name, in addition to the nickname it's most commonly called. Those are:
- 147th Vast Imperial Fighter Squadron: "Nazgul"
- 172nd Vast Imperial Fighter Squadron: "Viper"
- 137th Vast Imperial Training Squadron: "Raptor"
So say you're in Raptor squadron. This section of the ID Line would read: S:137 Raptor
Wing #/Wing Name[edit]
This is the wing you're currently a member of. At the moment there is one player-character wing in the Vast Imperial Navy: Phoenix Wing. All the currenty active squadrons are within this wing.
This section of the ID Line will read: W:1 Phoenix
Assigned Ship[edit]
The ship you're assigned to. For most Starfighter Command personnel (meaning fighter pilots) this will be the Atrus, the Vast Imperial Navy's Flagship. Later on you may get the opportunity to deploy on another ship, or to even serve on a ship rather than in a starfighter.
This section of the ID Line will read: mSSD Atrus (Remember: Ship names are always capitalized.)
Task Force[edit]
The Task Force your unit is a part of. As a starfighter pilot, you're most likely to be a part of Task Force Alpha. Members serving on capital ships may serve on other task forces, though.
This section of the ID Line will read: TF:A
Fleet #[edit]
The fleet your Task Force is a part of. This will be Fleet 1.
This section of the ID Line will read: 1 Flt
Corps[edit]
The corps you're a member of. The Navy has two corps: the Starfighter Corps (SFC) and the Capital Ship Service (CSS). New members are always in the Starfighter Corps.
This section of the ID Line will read: SFC or CSS
VEN & VE[edit]
VEN stands for Vast Imperial Navy, and VE stands for Vast Empire. Everyone in the Navy sports these two sections with pride.
VEN should read: VEN VE should read: VE
Other Content[edit]
Medals[edit]
This section, located directly after the VE section, is where you may place the various medals, banners, and other awards you earn during your service to the Navy. The list of those is found here: Awards. Note that each award should be shown separately, and should be capped with brackets. Those brackets should be the [ and ] symbols.
For example: Say you have been awarded both of the Merit Crosses. They would read like this: [MC:1][MC:2]
Certifications[edit]
You earn these for passing exams throughout your career in the Navy. They are capped, like medals, but with the ( and ) symbols. Note that passing with a certain percentage score may earn you special symbols on these, depending on the exam.
Let's take mine for example. I have taken two exams, the Aviator's Exam and the Senior Aviator's Exam (The Basic Aviator's Exam did not exist back then.), passing both with 100%. This means my exam tags for those have asterisks (This symbol:*) added to them. They appear like this: (=*A*=)(=*SA*=)
