TIE/ga Ground Assault Infantry Support Fighter Pod
History[edit]
The concept for the TIE/ga was based on a support fighter to accompany LAAT gunships during the Clone Wars. A light, atmospheric fighter was considered to provide cover for the lumbering transports as well as for quick strikes and dogfighting roles.
In the end, the V-19 Torrent was slated for production over this model, whose ball-shaped turret later became the hallmark of Imperial fighter craft as the TIE series.
Imperial Center purchased the plans for this fighter as part of a massive data core it obtained from some mothballed hardware. It is the first, and among the most promising, of the designs we have been able to update and turn towards production.
Characteristics[edit]
The TIE/ga is an infantry support fighter/bomber designed for quick attack runs. It is a highly mobile platform and performs better in atmosphere than other TIE variants.
The TIE/ga can have a variety of payloads ,including 6 proton torpedoes, 10 concussion missiles, 12 air-deployed mines, 2 cluster bombs, or 16,000 plastic leaflets when used for propaganda missions.
