Personality: Tanus can be an amiable sort, occasionally getting a little too immersed in combat due to his nature as a rugby player. As a friend, despite being somewhat crude, he means well and does whatever he can for his friends. He does not trust all too easily and tends to take everything with a grain of salt.

History :

From a young age, Tanus was always interested in sports. Growing up on Onderon and belonging to a farm family on the outskirts of Iziz, there was not much more to life than planting vegetables, tending livestock and kicking a ball around. Luckily for Tanus, his passion was the latter and not the former. As a young boy, he attended public school and developed a love of the sport known as rugby, an old sport played in the days of the old republic. He started playing at the age of five and fell in love with it from there. At the age of fourteen, he was asked to join up with one of the premier schools on all of Onderon for their rugby team; he gladly accepted. For four years, Tanus played rugby, earning fame and fortune all over the planet and throughout his sector. At the age of eighteen, he left Onderon for university, travelling to Coruscant to be taught in the ways of engineering. Luckily for Tanus, his rugby skills earned him a reputation on the planet, and most of his college was paid for by his various scholarships. In school, he earned a reputation as not only being ferocious on the pitch, but quite the student as well; all throughout his years as a student, Tanus carried straight A’s and was named valedictorian four years in a row. Upon graduation, Tanus was offered a job at one of the greatest engineering firms in the entire galaxy – Sienar Fleet Systems. But Tanus had other things in mind for his future.

At the age of twenty-two, when he had his degree and a fresh life ahead of him, Tanus once again chose sports as his career. He joined the professional rugby team on Coruscant, and with his team made history as one of the greatest teams the galaxy had ever known. Life seemed good for Tanus; as if there was nothing that could take anything it all away. He had fame, fortune and power all at his fingertips; women would throw themselves at him every night. This made Tanus a little egotistic, but it seemed to come along with the territory. Three years went by, and Tanus was still at the top of his game: his team had one three galactic championships, in no small part to Tanus being captain for the last two victories. All seemed well in the world. But there was some cause for panic: the league administrators had gotten wind of illegal substance use going on in the league. Tanus was shocked: why would any individual need something like that if they were on top? It was not an ego question to Tanus; it was a question of ethics. Along with several other members of the league, Tanus tracked down the accused and brought them to justice, attempting to clear the names of the teams and of the league itself. But apparently, Tanus was being watched, and some very angry people were waiting to make a move…

One day during the insurrection of the players, Tanus was at home, relaxing after a well spent night of frivolity. His holonet started to go off. Tanus got up and went over to the device, seeing that it was his agent. He answered and asked what was wrong: the news was grave. Tanus had been asked to come see the league admins regarding the substance matter. He happily obliged and got dressed and went towards the offices of the league admins. Upon arrival, he was ushered up to see the board; Tanus was beginning to think something wasn’t quite right. When he entered the office he was told to sit down; Tanus obeyed.

“Tanus Solvona, do you know why we have you called you down here today?”

Tanus shook his head. “No sir, I haven’t the faintest idea.”

As a retort, one of the directors threw a bag at Tanus; he caught it and gave it a look. His eyes widened when he realized what it was.

“Sir, this is syringe of steroids. But why me? They are not mine, nor do I own any. What is this? A joke?”

The directors all had grave looks on their faces. “This is far from a joke, Mr. Solvona. These were found in your locker in the club house, and we have reason to believe that they are in fact yours. Your urine test shows as such, as well as your blood tests. From this moment on, you are banned from professional rugby indefinitely. You may go now.”

Tanus head was spinning; the steroids were not his, and it was impossible for his test results to come back positive unless someone had messed with the results. But Tanus was no longer shaken by what had happened; all he felt now was rage, and he knew exactly where to vent it.

The lab where athletes were tested was not far from the director’s building; Tanus sprinted all the way there. Upon entering the building, he blew past the desk worker who tried so little to stop him anyway. Security was even more of a joke; one man even asked him for his autograph. When he arrived in the lab, a small man whom he knew quite well turned around and went white with fear. Tanus bounded toward him and lifted him off the ground by the lapels of his lab coat.

“Okay, I know you were paid to mess with my test results so I’d get kicked out of the league. I just need to know who and why. So start talking before you need to start breathing through a tube.”

The man started to stutter and whimper; Tanus was almost entirely sure he had soiled himself.

“Okay, one of the directors – his name is Archor Valtori. He had me do it. Something about a local crime boss killing him if he didn’t get rid of you. Said that he was losing a lot of money on you.”

Tanus grimaced slightly; he had never been a fan of Valtori, but he never thought that he would take something that trivial this far.

“Did he give you a name? Something he may have let slip? Or am I going to have to pay Valtori a similar visit?”

The lab technician seemed to be visibly crying now, but Tanus at least got what information he needed. He dropped the technician and snapped up his coat. It was time to get some answers to questions – and soon.

Tanus spent that night at home, thinking about what he had to do. He knew that it all would start with Valtori; it was just a question of where it would lead from there. If he got in over his head, he probably knew somebody that could make all of this go away. It just ended up being a question of whether or not he wanted to take it that far. As he crawled into bed, Tanus stared at his ceiling, thinking of what could go wrong. Sleep did not come easy that night.

The next day he woke up and threw on a fresh pair of cloths and went about his business as usual. He made several calls to ensure that his assets were in order. As night fell, Tanus threw on his coat and grabbed his blaster – just in case. He left his apartment and went to Valtori’s home; he had been there several times and had a mind like a steel trap. Upon arrival, Tanus noticed the doors were locked and lights on inside; he saw the visible shape of Valtori moving around in the main lunge area. Tanus backed up from the door by about 20 feet. Then he charged it, taking it down in one tremendous crash. Valtori rushed into the room to see what was going on. As Tanus rose from the pile of splintered wood, Valtori’s face lost all color.

“We need to talk,” Tanus said, his face contorted into a grimace.

Valtori could not move; every other came out as a stutter. “W-w-what about?”

Tanus yelled and walked up to Valtori, grabbing him by the neck and slamming his head into the wall.

“What about!? How about getting me kicked out of the league for starters. I’d like to start there. And this crime boss friend you have. I’d like to talk about him too.”

Tanus let go of Valtori’s neck, which was now red and puffed up from where Tanus grabbed it; Tanus still had his blaster in his pocket, just in case something went bad quick.

“Fine, fine, I’ll tell you. To be honest, I was hoping you’d get out of the league soon anyway; you were taking up too much publicity. To top that off, you and your goody-two-shoes routine when we found out about steroids was just sickening. At any rate, I owed a small sum of money to a local crime boss by the name of Exis Balry, a slumlord in the lower city. It was over a game of cards. But that is irrelevant now. Originally I had two options: either ban you from the league, or kill you. I just wanted you defamed, hoping it would shut you up. Exis, on the other hand, wanted you dead so you wouldn’t make any fuss. I could see that his option made more sense."

As he said that, Valtori pulled a blaster out of his back pocket, but Tanus was quicker. He pulled the trigger three times, hitting Valtori three times in the chest. He fell to the ground, barely breathing. Tanus rushed over to him to see the damage.

“Well, I guess this gets me out of my debt. If you want to find Exis and his crew, they’ll be down in the slums around this time every night, selling drugs and the like. Just go in prepared if you expect to live for more than five seconds.”

Valtori laughed as he died; Tanus guessed in was one last way to curse him before death. Tanus grimaced as he walked out of the house, never to set foot there again. Now it was time to finish what Exis started.

--- --- --- --- ---

It was apparently a slow night in the slums: the streets were dark, and there was barely any noise, save for vermin and the occasional voice of a dissident. Exis was not alone, just as Valtori said. He was with six or seven other men, all of whom were peddling drugs in one way or another. Tanus was sickened by the whole scene: These were the punks that ruined his life? Well, it was time for a little bit of payback. Tanus had his airspeeder high above them, in the shadow of a large apartment complex. He waited for some time before the street started to thin; he didn’t want any more casualties than necessary. He held the thermal detonator in his hands, feeling its weight and looking at the small device. It was surprising that such a small device could cause so much destruction and death. Tanus was just curious to see how powerful it was. He pulled out slowly, careful to keep his speed low as to not blow his cover. When he was about 30 meters over them, he activated the grenade and tossed it, hearing it make nose as it bounced off of beams below. As soon as it hit the ground, the others turned to stare at it. By the time they realized what it was, it was far too late. The explosion was deafening and the light was blinding. Dust and debris filled the air, and several shouts could be heard as what people were around fled. Tanus landed the airspeeder and drew his blaster, taking aim at those around him. He shot two other drug dealers that were still alive, only barely. When he came up to Exis, he was covered in cut and was smoking slightly. When Exis looked up at him, his only reaction was to try and run. Tanus caught him easily and slammed his head into a steel beam.

“You ruined my life! You took everything I had and destroyed it! I have nothing left now! And now I’m going to make you feel that!”

Tanus wheeled him around and pistol whipped Exis – hard. Blood flew out of his mouth as Tanus came across with a hard right hook followed by a knee to the stomach. Tanus pushed him up against a beam and jammed the barrel of his blaster in Exis’ eye.

“I just want to know… why? What did you even gain by doing this? Did you even have a plan?”

Exis just gave a weak laugh; it made Tanus sick to hear him even breath. “Not really. I only wanted to hold something over Valtori’s head, make him do something for me regardless of cost. It worked, and there is nothing you can do about it.”

Exis started to laugh; it struck Tanus at his core. Then he snapped. He hit Exis hard in the face with all the force he had. He slammed a kick into his ribs and a hard pistol whip to the skull. Tanus wasn’t even sure if Exis had much of a face left to hit; he didn’t care though. Tanus just wanted justice. When he was done he looked down at Exis’ broken body: he didn’t have much of a face left and if he did, it was mangled and beaten in. It was at that point that Tanus lowered the pistol to Exis’ face.

“I’m going to be sure that you never get a chance to ruin anyone again. No one deserves what happened to me, let alone by a punk like you.”

Tanus pumped off a single shot, hitting Exis square in the face. From a distance, he could already hear the police speeders coming; Tanus knew that he would never make it in his speeder. So he did the one thing he knew he could. He opened up the main engine hatch made sure he found the power generator. He then stood back at a distance of around 20 meters; he was hoping he wouldn’t need any more than that. He then looked down the scope and pumped off several shots. On the fourth hit, the speeder went up in a blaze. Tanus knocked off his feet and was sent skidding. He managed to get up and saw spotlights searching the ground. Tanus didn’t wait to see what happened next; he turned tail and fled.

Several months passed after that night; official reports stated that Tanus Solvona was dead after a battle with street thugs. The damage done to the undercity was actually quite extensive, having cleared out two apartment complexes and almost leveling another one. Tanus looked very much like a homeless man: his beard was grown out and his coat was full of holes. He looked no worse for wear than most of the hobos he ran into on a daily basis. However, one day his look changed forever. Tanus caught wind of the Vast Empire recruiting for soldiers in the main city. Tanus knew that he had to get off planet; it was only a matter of time before he was found. He made it back to his apartment with little difficulty; he knew a few ways to get in to avoid the press. When he got in, he was surprised to see that nothing was touched; apparently he had been missed all that much it seemed. He went to his bedroom and took a shower, putting on a fresh change of clothing and trimming his beard. He managed to cut his hair so he looked semi presentable.

He walked down to the large fountain in the center of town; he kept a low profile as there were cops everywhere. When he walked up to the recruiter, his eyes widened in surprise. Tanus knew that the recruiter could have shouted his name to the heavens, but for some reason he didn’t. When he finished applying, the recruiter took the application, saying he’d handle it personally and gave Tanus a wink. Tanus smirked as he stepped in to the shuttle bay that would take him to Tadath. Just as he was about to board, the recruitment officer pulled him aside.

“Listen, I know who you are and I know what you’re doing, and I’m okay with why you’re doing it; if I were in your position, I’d do the same. I’ll keep this quiet and wipe your record from the face of the galaxy, giving you a clean slate and fresh start. But one quick thing: can you sign an autograph for my son? He’s a huge fan.”

Tanus smiled as he signed the piece of paper for the man’s son. He gave the man the best salute he could before turning around and boarding the shuttle. That was the last step of Tanus Solvona, sports prodigy and the first step as Tanus Solvona, soldier.

Notable skills:
• Street fighting – Tanus learned quite a bit in his years in rugby, most of which he applied to street fighting and close quarters combat.
• Engineering – Tanus graduated with a full degree in engineering and is fully capable of repairing speeders, vehicle components and structural integrity
• Herbology – Having grown up on a farm, Tanus knows a great deal of what wild plants are good for eating, as well as agriculture and tending a farm.
• High speed piloting – Tanus had driven a good number of exotic speeders in his time, and for that reason is very good at piloting speeders around the skyways of Coruscant and beyond.
