Introduction

Valos was the second planet after Verinia founded by the Seven Families Expedition in 1523 BBY. Interest in the planet was fueled by the fact that Valos had large amount of swift flowing rivers, perfect for generating hydroelectric power for factories. The need for expansion was also added to by the fact that there was a great wish by the people of Verinia to preserve the beauty of habitable hemisphere of the world. Thus population and foundation numbers would have to be kept low. The population of Verinia was cut in half at this time because of the migration. The movement of such a large population of people sparked the religion of Degonism. Degonists believe that if a population of souls is too great in a single area their spirit energy will tear a hole in the universe that would cause it to implode. Over the years, Valos has become mainly covered by buildings. It was the main production location of Verinian raw material until the New Republic invasion in 4 ABY.

Economy

The economy of Valos is Production based. It produces everything from tooth paste, to toasters, to star fighters. It was the main source of the Verinian Remnant’s TIE Fighters until the planets “liberation” by the NR.

Valos has no form of large scale farming, thus almost all raw produce materials are imported. A large amount of the planet’s meat is also imported. The planet once got 90% of its raw ores from the Verinian System. Since its defection to the NR it has been forced to found new sources.

Valos accepts New Republic Credits as its form of currency.

Military

Since the Valos Military is supported by the New Republic, equipment is similar in nature. There is one major difference, the planet’s airforce is made up of almost 100% TIE fighter models since they were left there when Imperial forces fled the planet. The Valos Army (VA) is made up of 100 NR divisions. The Valos Air Force (VAF) is made up of 10 NR Wings. Valos does not have a naval fleet.

Transplanetary Issues

Valos is enemies with all Imperial remnant groups since it is a member of the New Republic. Its status of being part of the NR came with blood. Verinia was unable to assists its colony world since it was busy snuffing out Rebel outbreaks in its own system. The location called “Enigma’s Gouge” is a section of the city that was completely destroyed by the crashing of capital ships. It was never repaired after Valos came under NR power. Verinian Remnant divisions were eventually forced to flee from the planet. Ever since, there have been great tensions between the two worlds. It is believed that Verinia will make an attempt to retake it in the near future but this is not known for certain.
