THE VE TODAY SPOTLIGHT

Welcome my fellow Imperials to another issue of The VE Today Spotlight. My next guest has a dark soul, a dark attitude, a black heart, and an axe that wouldn't hesitate to decapitate any of us. If you haven't guessed who this is yet, then prepare to get a special apron forcefully wrapped around your waste. It is Senior Sergeant Merrick!
*A band borrowed from a local cantina plays a few seconds of tunes*
VE Today: Welcome to this weeks interview, Merrick.
Merrick: Run out of interesting people to interview?
VE Today: Actually, I felt like keeping my head today, and you seemed the right person to have for this next issue. So, how did you originally find The Vast Empire?
Merrick: Back when I still talked to some of the people involved in LSF, and VE shared their server, I was wandering around the unfamiliar channels and found one where Kiption, Say, Anakin, Timber and a couple of others used to hang out. After just hanging around with them for a while Kip managed to convince me to join, despite the fact that I swore never to join another club after LSF (long story, ends badly). So yeah, I joined, got stuck in Wraith, didn't like it and went idle like most recruits. ;)
VE Today: What do you think about our current activity situation at hand, and what changes would you make (if any) to increase activity?
Merrick: Our current activity situation is pretty bad, yeah. Like every club, VE is going to have highs and lows in that department. I don't think that
recruits do enough while in Drill Squad, they should go through some form of training other than just emailing and using the comnet so that they know we
do actually play games. Or something. No one ever said I would make it anywhere in the HC. ;)
VE Today: What do you think of the members? On a scale of 1 to 10?
Merrick: Can I skip this question? Honestly, a lot of the members of Vast Empire are kids (either mentally or physically or both) and as such it can be a not very nice place at times. It's been cracked down on, but that doesn't prevent them being generally childish. But, we do have the good ones, and they make VE at least tolerable. ;) I'll give members a 7 over all.
VE Today: Do you have a particular role model you try to mold yourself after? If so, what attributes does that individual have that make you view him or her as a role model?
Merrick: Hrm, role model. No, not really. I just try to be myself, and respectful towards those who deserve it. I dislike who earns it, and do what I am told by those I respect. Like all good little privates should do. I just have more friends in the high command. ;)
VE Today: What's your favorite Star Wars movie, and why?
Merrick: Definitely not either of the new ones. Ugh. Table scraps. Hrmm. I would have to say Empire Strikes Back. Gotta love the dark side, even if Vader does turn into a pansy and save the damn light sider's life. Pft, parenthood.
VE Today: Do you consider yourself a good trooper/member? Why?
Merrick: My character is a good trooper and a bad trooper. She does her job well, but is a little too eager to kill sometimes. Her methods also disgust and disturb her squad members, especially the pet Nexu. As a member, I think I do ok. I am not quite as active as I should be, but real life does tend to get in the way now and then. I will be done with university for the year in 3 weeks, and should be a little better at being a real SL during my break.
VE Today: Who is your favorite Star Wars character and why?
Merrick: Hrmm favourite character. That's a tough one. I haven't read any of the books so it's just out of the movies. Probably Maul, I just wish he hadn't died so soon. The whole tattooed face and light staff was kinda neat. He's the only SW character I ever had a poster of.
VE Today: Describe your character. What are her likes and dislikes?
Merrick: My character likes to kill things, mostly people, and mostly in a very violent manner.She dislikes people assuming that she is weak or useless, or needs their help in any way. She likes to get things done on her own, and her own way. She dislikes weaklings and idiots.
VE Today: *A sizzling sound plays* Ah, very hot. Anyway, next question: What has been your favorite moment thus far in The Vast Empire?
Merrick: When someone told Hashi he had a good SL. =D
VE Today: And what did you have for breakfast?
Merrick: Me or Merrick? I had peanut butter and honey sandwiches, Merrick most likely ate rations.
VE Today: Hoho! Well, a good 'ol PB&J will always... brighten my day, and rations will definately land you on the pot. Well, thank you very much for your interview, Senior Sergeant. I'm sure a lot of people will now have a deeper respect or hate for you *grins*, I certainly have.
