A/SF-02 B-Wing Aurora Heavy Bomber
The A/SF-02 B-Wing Aurora Heavy Bomber was originally designed as a retrofit program for existing craft, but later turned into a new production model in its own right.
Characteristics[edit]
Designed exclusively for defense of the Roche, the Verpine continued their engineering to develop several experimental variants of the B-Wing, the first being the Aurora. The Roche Asteroids is a dangerous place, larger than normal size asteroids tumble through space allowing good protection for the famed shipyards of the Verpine and Mon Calamari, but poor navigation for the lumbering capital ships produced there, essentially making it a deathtrap for any invader who wishes to bring heavy captial ships into the heart of Verpine territory. To protect the famed shipyards, the Verpine needed a craft capable of dealing heavy payloads yet still able to easily maneuver the treacherous space lanes. This need brought about the B-Wing Aurora, a twin cockpit variant of the B-wing which allowed more precise targeting of its special weapons thanks to the dedicated bombardier.
Although the craft was still protected by the same strong shield generator as the B-Wing, the lack of the gyrocockpit and same strength armor which was weaker than a Y-wing's made the bomber an easier target for fighters and interceptors, relegating its role to defensive strike missions amongst the asteroids of Roche, and never being accepted by the New Republic.
Origins[edit]
The B-Wing Aurora Heavy Bomber was originally designed by Burntstrobe for the Empire at War: Forces of Corruption mod Yuuzhan Vong at War.
