A starship is a weapon, but it’s the crew that makes it deadly.

Space is busy with traffic. Only so many craft can be manned by military pilots and crews. The majority of ships are small freighters and transports crewed by independent operators, commercial pilots and some pilot droids. Most of the sentient pilots did not learn how to fly in a starfighter cockpit; they learned by a private school or just hardworn experience certified by an exam down the road.
