Introduction

Welcome to the Officer's Handbook. The goal of this text is to provide you, the commander or commander-in-training, with an even-handed and successful approach to running a fighter squadron. What we've found in the past is that our fighter commanders are usually smart, patient, and willing to listen: does that sound like you? Either way, we're ganna need that from you if this is going to helpful for you. Hear what I'm sezzin?

Below we have what one might say is a 'general' outline of the way a squadron commander should work. While nothing is ever absolutely concrete or clear, by following the methods described in the texts below, not only should you be able to steer clear of many of the problems we offer solutions to, but you should also be able to actually enjoy the experience of running a squadron. Often, the fear from a higher-up is that they're going to burn their squadron commanders out- following these methods should help ease that fear. *Shakes fist* Ease IT!

Also, before you start, realize that there is a short quiz for each section that must be submitted via the message center to the Officer of Training (TO). Why? Because we want to know that you read these materials- that way, if you do something that we very, very specifically state you shouldn't do, like- arguing with other officers in public- we can heavily, heavily chastise you and not feel too bad about it. Comforting, right? Nah- keep your head on straight and a decent attitude and this will be a life saver. You may begin!
