Bio

Appearance & Personality

Jasper is a gentlemen to the likes many do not even know still exist. Despite a background in trade, he was never involved in smuggling, as this was against his personal belief in abiding by the law. And while he is very kind, he has no such decency to his enemies; despite his supposed morals or ethics amongst his peers, he is intentionally cold and brutal to the enemy. Don't ask him why because it's not something he can explain, but he has a very deep hatred for those who oppose his law and order.

History

Jasper Crane was born on the planet Talasea, just outward from the core rim; it was a heavilly forested planet notorious for vicious thunderstorms and heavy rains. Jasper's father worked for the local government as a construction crew manager and his mother served several years at a private school teaching linguistics.

The young Crane finished primary school and was beginning to focus on his interests in electronics and mechanics when he left after his twelfth birthday for a special trip his parents had ordered for him. A local trader that flew around the inner-rim quite frequently had taken a liking to young Jasper after he'd asked him if he needed any up-and-coming mechanics; he'd agreed to take him to Alderaan first, then Coruscant, and then a quick trip down to Corellia before returning home; it would be the longest he'd ever been from home, and the only time he'd ever been off planet. The day he left his father gave him enough credits to more than pay for food and anything else that might interest him while his mother simply pecked him on the cheek and told him to "be careful and have fun." Jasper Crane loved his parents.

The day after he left, a gentlemen landed on Talasea who quickly attracted attention to himself, whether he wanted it or not. They said he was a jedi forced into exile after the Empire had decided to terminate the services of his fellow knights (which had been about ten years before Jasper's birth). Despite many warnings from Imperial Holonet, warnings that specifically stated that anyone with the knowledge of jedi and their whereabouts should report them or risk severe punishment, the people of the planet's largest city knowingly housed him and assisted him in hiding transportion data that would have linked him to their planet, further enshrouding him.

While the Talaseians were technically brilliant, they were no match for the encryptors and research super-computers on Coruscant; the computers had instantly noticed the correction that the Talaseians had entered into the system and quickly went to work trying to understand what had changed. Two weeks later, the computers had, as a minor, supplementary task, re-compiled three years of transportion and trade data and then re-engineered the destinations of several billion individuals. Even though there were still thousands of individuals on this final list, a certain name, the name of a jedi, turned on a special program output: "Jedi location found!" This information quickly worked its way from the massive computer stations to the super-star destroyer known as Executor. When Darth Vader learned of such potential whereabouts, he didn't think twice about the chances of the person actually being a jedi- he acted without hesitation. Taking a personal ship, he landed quietly on Talasea, found the jedi in the mountains, and slayed him. The next day, the Executor arrived at Talasea and bombarded it as punishment for hiding the jedi. The planet was reduced to cinders.

When Jasper returned with the merchant to Talasea, the planet was dark with mass blurs of red and orange- the planet had been scorched and fires were even then reavaging the hillsides where he'd lived. While both he and the pilot were distraught beyond understanding, they were both equally anxious to learn of the cause; the pilot, who was an older gentlemen named Harris, was enraged to find that his people had housed a jedi, and deeply saddened that they'd thought they could fool the Imperials. Neither were angry at the Imperials though: they'd acted justly as far as they could tell- they'd acted upon their promise and that was that. Rather than become angry, in fact, Jasper began to carry with him a heavy understanding of justice and what it meant to abide by the law.

Bonded by their trip and common losses, Jasper moved to Corellia where he began taking odd-jobs as a mechanic, electrician, and under Harris's tutelage, a freighter pilot. On his twenty-third years, already a well-traveled merchant, Jasper got his first look at Imperial fighter craft when he was saved from Rebellion capture; he was fascinated... But unable to join just yet; he had a series of debts he owed for purchasing his own craft and supplies. Two years later, at the age of twenty-four, five years after the fall of the Empire, Jasper signed for the Imperial Navy at an outpost on Lotaith.
