Demortis (sometimes called "the first") was a professional smuggler, pilot, mercenary, and owner of the ship Indefatigable. A former New Republic pilot turned mercenary, Demortis held the claim to being the deadliest Arkanian alive; a title that he was constantly forced to contest with, due to the relentless efforts of his former pupil, Raasaa. While his reputation proceeded him, towards the end of his life Demortis showed signs of lapse- especially when confronted with an enemy that he knew little about. Yet even with the accumulation of age and failure, he still retained his legendary status.
Personal Details[edit]
Biology and Appearance[edit]
Both of Demortis' parents were of a human subspecies, which begs to differ the question on whether or not Demortis is truely Arkanian. He has retained the white pupils of the eyes, and has pointed ears like the rest of the Arkanian people, as well as white hair- since he was a boy. While these traits are not Arkanian alone, having bourne them all his life on the planet Arkania- Demortis considers himself to be one of them. He is aged and nearing his seventies, which is respectable for an Arkanian, and has traveled all across the galaxy. He sometimes claims to have been to every planet in the galaxy, and when he's drunk, he adds that he's done it "twice". Due to this, he has picked up numerous tattoos (each from a different culture) that covers his arms, legs, chest, and back. Many of these tattoos were applied with dirty, used equipment, which results in frequent infections. These infections leave scars after treated, which is why Demortis makes sure to cover himself wherever he goes.
Personality[edit]
Demortis was legendary for his bold, almost reckless, attitude. Often in encounters he ignored tactics and simply went straight at his target, cutting them down and miraculously coming out of the conflict unscathed. While there were many who would call this foolhardiness, there were few who actually would apply this rule to Demortis. He himself, did not dispute the fact that he was reckless, but he attributed everything to experience, and a bit of good luck. Raasaa, his former student, would call this laziness and rediculously good luck, upon her leaving his crew and mercenary band in his earlier days.
Death[edit]
During the military take over of Arkania by Vast Empire forces, Demortis was killed by Raasaa in the Kanti Bio-dome. His corpse was disgraced when she cut off his eyelids to create a cover for her scope. Demortis was seen as a martyr by many revolutionary, zealous Arkanians; which ultimately resulted in the formation of a cult named after him, which was lead by a successor who had the same name.
