The training you need to become a Flight Leader!

Welcome! If you've been directed to this page, you've been selected by your Squadron Commanders to lead a flight in your squadron! This is a bit of a new experience for you, obviously, but we hope that any questions or concerns will be addressed by the time you've finished reading these materials. Enjoy!

The Flight Leader (FL) is the first of several positions in which a member is given the duty of leading other pilots; it is sometimes challenging, but mostly rewarding. In short, the FL is the person that is primarily responsible for the health and wellness of any particular flight. The success or failure of a flight (Alpha, Beta or Gamma) does not hinge upon the efforts of the SC or the XO, but rather- on the efforts made by the FL. Therefore, you will actually become responsible for taking care of your own portion of the squadron. That means that you're here because your commanders have great faith in you- they want to see you succeed because they want to see the squadron succeed!

Now, before you can take on the responsibilities mentioned above, you have to understand your duties; we're going to try and give you the best explanation of that, as well as give you some other expectations for your time as an FL. If you think you've got a good hold on everything so far, you can continue on to the next page!
