Appearance & Personality

Faridoon’s greatest flaw would have to be his complete lack of innocence. His group of Barabel on his home planet were very animalistic, yet they were quite sophisticated at the same time. They were very aggressive and warlike, but the methods they used required a lot of stealth and patience. Tarin has “been there, done that” when it comes to almost everything; sex, drugs, and murder. He knows suffering, first hand and through third parties. The injustices his planet and race faced when it came to the Planetary Safaris would be considered third party, while the death of his father would be considered first hand.

Despite all that though, Tarin is very refined, but exclusive. Due to the attack methods his group employed, he knows how to hold his anger and enthusiasm back. For the same reason, Tarin is very difficult to provoke emotionally, including friendliness. He’ll respect everyone in the sense that he won’t insult them, but he’ll rarely go beyond greetings. He will make a few select friends, but those bonds take a long time to form. His squad mates will be able to get a few more words out of him than a stranger would, but only Tarin’s friends will be able to get a full conversation out of him. As a side, Tarin’s friends will most likely be only in the squads he serves in, because there will already be that trust there.

Since his father died, Tarin’s faith shifted greatly. Instead of following his father’s word flawlessly, he switched to following the squad/group leader’s word unwaveringly. Of course, that meant that if Tarin was ordered to run on a suicide mission, he would do it. It would be an honourable death, as he died doing something he not only loved, but in the name of his leader. As to whether or not his leader ignored the blood on their hands, that’s another question.

History

Faridoon, or namely Tarin Shikoba, was born on his species’ home planet of Barab I, in the Barab system. His group of Barabel was roughly six thousand strong at the time, average for his species. His father, Tagath, and mother, Sapa, were the main figures in his early childhood, before they gave him over to the militia of sorts that was in charge of the security, safety, and warring. The leader of this small group was an ex-merc, which had been born off-world, but had been raised in the Barabel way. He just had an excellent knowledge of everything that was useful to Tarin’s family group. Tarin was taught the art of stealth and close combat. He excelled at them all, taking special interest in vibroswords and K’tara, the unarmed combat that stressed stealth and silence.

From the time Tarin was five to the time he left, he was part of this security group. He served loyally, but he never made any close friends, partially because close relationships were forbidden. It made their group open to more, and by proxy, weaker. Killing for revenge did nothing for the dead, so the only way to prevent that urge, close friendships were not allowed. However, due to the typical loyalty most Barabels feel, that urge was unavoidable.

When Tarin was eighteen, his time came to feel the need for revenge. When Tarin’s party was out, scouting for a Durgolosk that had been spotted days earlier, that same Durgolosk came to the group’s camp, and slaughtered many Barabel. One of these Barabel was Tarin’s father, Tagath. For months after, Tarin tracked this Durgolosk, trying to kill it by himself. He travelled only at night, using stealth as his only ally. However, he never did find it, the only prey he’s tracked that managed to get away.

He lived in grief for years afterwards, only making himself come out of it when his mother died, with the following words on her last breath: “forgive yourself”. Tarin eventually realized that he really blamed himself and his party of trained killers for Tagath’s death. That was when he left and joined the Stormtrooper Corps, at the ripe old age of 25.
