Biography[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
Small-statured, thin, and agile, the left-handed Twi'lek boasts lightning-quick reflexes to make up for her diminished physical strength, as well as being an acceptably strong runner. A quiet, high voice compliments her stature perfectly, and she tends to keep to loose and comfortable clothing when not in uniform or her flight suit.
Personality[edit]
Intelligent and perceptive, but with the constitution of a woodland creature and social skill to match, the Twi'lek is every bit as commanding as she looks. When speaking, especially Basic, she adheres to polite, excessively formal speech and has a strong tendency to speak more than is necessary to convey even minor details. Her personality meets her way of speaking, in that she would much rather agree with, or remain silent on a particular matter and avoid "stepping on toes". In combat, she would much rather hug the wing of a more experienced pilot, keeping her head down and doing as ordered ... at least until experience picks up.
Her brief experience under Strill Squadron did much for hardening her for the necessities and burdens of military life. At her core, however, Arali yet remains the mild-mannered, quiet Twi'lek, as careful as ever of what her peers may think of her.
History[edit]
Born on Ryloth to a family of modest wealth in the sixth year Before the Battle of Yavin, she was well introduced to the Empire's "anti-Alien" policy when Ryloth was invaded and her family one of many subjugated and enslaved. Being as young as she was, Arali would not be right away separated from her mother who served under an Imperial bureaucrat and, later, a local crime boss: her father being sent to shipyards. Arali hadn't been long into her eighth year of life, when separated from her mother; sold off; and transported from Ryloth to the Outer-Rim desert world of Tattooine. From there: she shifted a great deal from owner to owner within the span of four years, until coming to the ownership of a Spice runner: a result of gambling losses. She fell into the hands of the New Republic when the Spicer's ship was captured in that same year while passing through the Gaulus sector, and was taken to a Republic outpost to be held for only a few Standard months before being transferred again.
Finding herself once more on her home planet of Ryloth, Arali would return to the care of the Hutts. Once again, she kept her head down, avoiding bold moves or outright stupidity. For three more years and some months would she remain under care of the low-ranking Hutt boss, before being sold once more and for the final time. 10BBY, she would enter the service of an officer of the Vast Empire. Such lengths of time moving from place-to-place, largely by starship, brought an interest in just how the machines worked, that never quite left the Twi'lek. Her current keeper took notice of this and, being a particularly nice guy as well as politically motivated, nurtured it.
Arali's fascination with starships expanded to include not only maintenance, but flying as well ... not to say she had ever been inside a cockpit. In the next couple of years, she would be permitted to expand her working knowledge of Imperial-issue TIE craft (carefully supervised, of course) until her eventual release with the express stipulation that she enlist with the Vast Empire.
