Jerris Samick
“ | The majority of the Saints choose not to form friendships, but those two are the exception. Their piloting skills are, individually, mediocre, but their teamwork is nothing short of stunning. They might as well be brothers. | ” |
—Talanis "Trophy" Heckmann, about Ben Nightshade and Jerris Samick. |

Biography[edit]
Appearance[edit]
Jerris is not a tall man. He is not even a man of average height. He is, to put it bluntly, short. Not quite diminutive, to be sure, but his height (or lack thereof) is sufficient to make him the butt of his Squadronmate's jokes. That he has big hair, bigger boots and a well-muscled matters little, and he is ironically called 'Big Bear' by the other members of the 128th. His expression can only be described as 'shify', and the man always seems to have some crazy idea or another up his sleeve.
It might be because of his natural affinity with the criminal underworld, but he always seems to be dirty - his uniform is always covered in dust, grit and other things, even when he is aboard an Imperial Star Destroyer (rumour has it that he goes through the trash compactor for things to sell), and he is never seen without his signature goggles, or a wry grin that is almost - but not quite - bordering on smugness.
Personality[edit]
Some people are born thinkers, and some are born killers. Jerris Samick, however, is a schemer, and he's always got something going on the side. With a brain that appears to move a million miles an hour and an attention span to match, he is loud, animated and downright cocky - typical of a Corellian spacer. He thinks fast, talks fast and reacts fast, and is too jittery to ever stay in one place for too long. He has the talent of always looking like he's up to something - even in the rare cases when he genuinely isn't.
Whilst not really a soldier type, he slipped into bounty hunting with ease, and found he had an innate talent for tracking people and predicting what they'll do next - his ability to read people serves him as well now as it did then, and it has managed to keep him alive. He's not much of a fighter on his own, but being around his best friend Ben Nightshade gives him the confidence to give it his all. He's not a real fan of the Empire, but his quick thinking managed to get him out of a prison sentence, and he sticks around mostly because he enjoys the free food and 'business opportunities'.
History[edit]
Little is known about Jerris Samick before the destruction of Alderaan. It is known he was a shuttle pilot on a field trip for the Alderaan Academy of Thought when the planet blew, and slipped straight into Bounty Hunting with his friend Ben Nightshade. When the duo was caught by the Empire, quick thinking and shameless bribery landed him in the Academy, and he has run a successful black market business in the middle of the Imperial Navy ever since.
He still sends regular postcards to the Imperial Navy Sergeant he bribed into letting him go when they were captured - despite the fact the man is now a Thrawnist!
