Description:

Katarn-class armor is a combat suit comprised of eighteen white armored plates. These plates are secured to a thermally-balanced, black Zero-G vacuum under suit. Armored boots provide protection during extended field service, on acidic terrain - and against the occasional stubborn door - while armored knuckle plates feature a surprise retractable melee blade for close quarters combat. A bulky survival pack is fixed to the back plate, and can be configured for a variety of mission profiles.

The most prominent feature of the armor is the filtration mask. The design is based on that of the Mandalorian battle helmet worn by Jango Fett, and features the infamous T-shaped visor common to the Mandalorian shock troopers. This blue-tinted visor features an integrated Heads Up Display with threat analysis for split-second tactical decisions. The helmet also features an internal communications antennae both for long-range comm and communication with the commando's squad mates and adviser.

All clone commandos are issued with Katarn-class armor, which has more in common with the Phase II trooper armor used at the end of the Clone Wars than the lighter Phase I version. Both the Katarn and Phase II suits appear bulky, but actually afford advanced independence and a superior defensive rating in combat. The Katarn-class is also heavily reinforced - essential for the dangerous missions given to clone commandos.
