Navy Refresher Course

Welcome to VENA's Refresher Course.

This course is for members who have been placed on the AWOL (Away Without Leave) list, or in the reserves, who wish to return to active duty. Satisfactory completion of this course is required before such members may continue their careers with the Vast Empire's Navy.

Basic Tests

The Basic Refresher Course has only three requirements and should be easy to pass.

Squad Member

• The first task is to create a story of at least 1,600 words that covers what their character did while on leave. There must be a minimum of two posts, and no post can be fewer than 500 words
• Immediately after your story post, you should look through the pages for Starfighter School.
• Once placed they must maintain at least two posts per week (story or discussion) to remain active. If the squad is wrapping up the story the “RAD” Trainer lines up a story to keep the writer active; generally a simulator mission, but up to the trainer.

Capital Ship Crew Member(Not Ship Captain)

• The first task is to create a story of at least 1,600 words that covers what their character did while on leave. There must be a minimum of two posts, and no post can be fewer than 500 words
• Immediately after your story post, you should look through the pages for Fleet School.
• Once placed they must maintain at least two posts per week (story or discussion) to remain active. If the assigned ship is wrapping up the story; the “RAD” Trainer lines up a story to keep the writer active.

Both Tests

Following your refresher course story, and a self-guided review of the VENA pages PM the Return to Active Duty Trainer(s) (at present, Unassigned) (Until the RAD Trainer(s) position is filled PM the Chief of Naval Training DeepSix) and you will be assigned a position on the roster, as a squad member. (If you held a higher position, and wish to return to it you will need to deal with a second test.)

Leadership Tests

The Ship Captain, and Squadron Leader Course has only two requirements.

Squadron Leader

• The second test is to show that they can write along with another person or group in story of at least 1,700 words (only the tester has the min story word count). This will be a simulator mission with a minimum of two posts, and a minimum of 650 wpp. The RAD trainer will allow any of the current gradation group or person from the academy to join. (If the group is placed and the squad story is about to wrap up, but if the squad story just started the trainer will ask for volunteers.)
• Immediately after your story post, you should look through the pages Imperial Fighter Basics.

Ship Captain

• You will be given use of a training capital ship and given a 1,800 word minimum scouting mission (not necessarily in line with a story). This story will also have a minimum of two posts, and a minimum of 800 wpp. (The RAD Trainer(s) will create the first post to the scouting mission. Then when necessary will introduce any enemy fighters, or jump in and tell them the area is clear and have the tester wrap up the story.)
• Immediately after your story post, you should look through the pages for Fleet School, as well as Imperial Capital Ship Basics.

Both Tests

Following the Leadership test, and a self-guided review of the VENA pages, PM the Chief of Naval Training (at present, DeepSix) if the position is available (as the VEN has only set number of PC slots) you will be restored to it. If there is not an opening currently, but you continually show dedication to the fleet or the squad. You will be among the group pick from, when a slot opens up.
