Nusiuu Docks
The Nusiuu Docks Reserve Fleet is located spinward of the planet Absit. It is surrounded by a marked - and mined - exclusion zone which exists outside of the local hyperspace lane between Absit and nearby planets. In short, a vessel does not appear in this region by accident. Nor does it stand much chance of survival should it do so without prior authorization.
Purpose[edit]
The Imperial Maritime & Stellar Trade Administration (IMSTA) maintains a fleet of vessels that serve as a reserve of ships for galactic defense and imperial emergency purposes. The reserve fleet program was begun after the Clone Wars to maintain older vessels for possible future use. One of the reserve fleet storage sites is Nusiuu Docks, and was incorporated into the Vast Empire faction, which maintained the vessels and facility. Additional defenses and repair facilities were added in 7 ABY and the fleet's many vessels have been used in a variety of training, defense, and humanitarian roles since.
Facilities and Crews[edit]
IMSTA maintains a facilities crew of 5,000 technicians and mechanics, along with 1,500 defense contractors who man the three defense platforms and two fighter wings that protect and patrol the facility. In addition, automated sentry turrets and minefields provide a layered defensive grid.
The nearby planet of Absit has a training program cooperative extension for the Aubrey-Maturin Merchant Marine College based there. Students are invited to practice their trade in the yard, normally with only freighters, but with the odd frigate on occasion. In addition, naval reserve units often perform their annual military obligation amongst the ships of the line.
