History[edit]

Diagram of the Paradise Mist Hotel

There is nothing in the galaxy like the Paradise Mist Hotel. The Mist differs from previous habitats in that it is "one-atmosphere". This means that the interior of the structure is always at surface pressure so that, unlike ambient pressure habitats, Mist occupants are never exposed to the physiological effects of hydrostatic pressure.

When you vacation with us under the sea, you'll become part of history in the making.

The hotel was a dream of Jacques Anderson, a galactically known and respected oceanographer, which has been seen revealed by his daughter [Tracey Anderson] who is the owner and manager of the Paradise Mist Hotel.

The Suites[edit]

Paradise Mist Suite
A turbolift will transport guests 12 meters under the sea where they will find 24 spectacular suites and one luxury apartment with all the comforts one would expect from a top-rated hotel.

Accommodations of the highest quality will welcome guests. Marble, leather and fine fabrics grace the floors and walls. Approximately 70 percent of the room is enveloped in 100 millimeter thick clear transperiglass, allowing spectacular sights of individual coral gardens and the ocean beyond. Fish will gladly interact when they are fed with the push of a button from your control console.

Paradise Mist Corridor
Guests may activate a special interior window film to protect their privacy, if necessary. During the day-light hours it is nearly impossible to look into the individual suites from under water. External underwater lights can be turned on at night to attract marine life coming up towards the surface from the deeper areas of the reef.

Construction[edit]

Paradise Mist Suite
Measuring 10 meters by 5.1 meters the 24 standard undersea hotel suites compromise 51 square meters of floor space. The suites are built as detachable stand-alone modules that can be placed underwater when neutrally buoyant and mated to the main corridor assembly. Each suite has an integral high-tech carbon fiber door that opens outward to maintain the unit's watertight integrity during installation or removal. The main corridor has a similar opposing door. The release of the module is simply accomplished by closing both doors and flooding the space between.

Exceptional visibility is due to the use of transparent acrylic plastic. The material is strong and remarkably transparent, and its characteristics are well understood. The resort's design takes full advantage of acrylic's ability to maximize viewing while maintaining structural soundness.

Steel wall structures are a 25-millimeter plate, following the same curve as the acrylic which is 100 millimeters thick. Acrylic window sections are set into a steel frame and are 3 meters in length around the curve and 2 meters wide. Each suite has a 6:1 safety factor.

Starport[edit]

Is owned by a co-operation group of local farmers in order to reduce transport costs in order to maintain an advantage over their competition. Keeping the price cheap for export and prices expensive for those hoping to leave the planet. Owned by a private company called YPYP (You Park You Pay) charges pilots for the duration of their stay and how big the ship is.
