Introduction[edit]

Despite being more or less removed from the wider politics of the Galaxy, the Vast Empire still has it's role to play on the "political scene". With the state of affairs what they are at the moment, the leaders of the VE sometimes have no choice but to involve themselves, as isolation rarely lasts forever. Below is a little summary of the current state of the Galaxy, as well as the Vast Empire's role in it.

Background and Context[edit]

Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, and the subsequent death of both Emperor Palpatine, Lord Vader and a lot of the Empires command staff, the entity known as the "Galactic Empire" began to collapse.

With their leader dead, the Moff Council at the time tried to seize control of the shattered Empire, but failed. For the next 5 years, the Empire slowly but surely fractured into several pieces. Moff fought Moff, Admiral fought Admiral, and with the emergence of the "New Republic", the Galaxy became a stage for Total War.

The Year is now 9 ABY, and we are faced with a Galaxy divided.

Factions & Allegiance[edit]

Imperial Factions[edit]

Probably one of the most numerous, and dangerous, category factions in the Galaxy, the "Imperial Factions" are mini-empires and territories carved out of the former empire.

Officially known as "Splinter factions" the leaders of these wayward groups usually seek one thing only: Power. In the vacuum left by the diminished Empire, Several Moffs and renegade Admirals (Sometimes known as 'Warlords') have tried to grab as much as they can.

Sometimes, a notable figure will come along to try and unify these factions, such as Admiral Thrawn, Ysanne Isard, or even Admiral Daala. Most of the time though, these factions will fight anyone and everyone in order to attain power.

Whilst officially an Imperial Splinter Faction, The Vast Empire tries to stay out of these disputes, and in fact most of the wider politics of the Galaxy. Formed by a more moderate-thinking Moff, the VE is content to sit within it's borders in the Outer Rim and "Wild Space", only ever expanding when needed, and never that far or big.

Even though they prefer a life of isolation, they are not with out allies, and even though they have declined Thrawn's call to arms, the still remember the ideals of the old Empire, and wouldn't hesitate to help a comrade in need.

The New Republic[edit]

Formed shortly after the Battle of Endor, the "New Republic" is the Rebellion's attempt to form a more free and liberal government. Very Anti-Empire, the Rebellion will not hesitate to wage war against any Imperial Faction, but will also strive to free planets from oppression.

With their capture of Courascant a few years ago, the Rebels seem to be gaining more weight and authority.
