T-wing History

The original design of the T-Wing Starfighter came from the drawing board of Incom, shortly after the time of the battle of Yavin. However due to a stroke of good luck and a careless lapse in security, corporate spies from up and coming Corman Shipyards managed to infiltrated the research and development labs where the prototype was under construction. Once on the inside, the spies liberated the ship designs. Corman took the pilfered plans and quickly produced a knock-off clone of the ship, cutting corners where they could and rushing it to market a month before Incom unveiled their final product. Incom took the tiny company to court over the pirated design, but as adapt as Corman was at stealing other people's ideas, they were even more adept at avoiding restraining orders, cease and desist orders, court injunctions and other machinations of the law. As the court battle dragged on, production of the T-Wing clones continued.

The T-Wing is the pinnacle of cheap design. The seat covering would cause a rash after long term sitting in some races. The climate control is just adequate for space travel- and no more. The inflight entertainment consists of a tinny sounding music play back unit on an out of date format, and the paint job generally peeled after just a few flights. If an X-Wing is a Lamborghini, then the T-Wing is a Le' Car.

Eventually the lawsuit was resolved, but not because of any victory by Incom. One day the Vixprex of Corman took the bulk of the corporation's capital, and fled for a warm beach on a planet far away with his secretary. In the resulting power vacuum, company personal either tried to get what was left of the pie for themselves or diverted the blame to someone else. The final result was Corman's remaining inventory being sold off at cut-rate prices to cover the company's bankruptcy, and the T-Wing scrapped as a production line. Due to the mammoth production run of the ships coupled with the low, low cost, the T-Wing can still be found in far and wide corners of the galaxy- at least the ones that are still running, that is.
