Wing Assignments

Wing Assignments is a multi-step process based off tactical units of their respective Task Forces. First the process that starts by evaluating the total Squadron Capacity of a given Task Force, then its Wing Capacity from the Squadron Capacity. Wings are then assigned numbers starting from 1 to each wing in the entire Navy in a specific order.

Getting the Squadron and Wing Capacities

Each ship in the task force is evaluated for its starfighter compliment. Commonly, Imperial-class Star Destroyers can carry six squadrons, and Victory-class Star Destroyers can carry two. The total Squadron Capacity of a task force is the grand total of all squadrons of fighters within the specific task force. Any ship carrying less than one whole squadron, twelve starfighters, is neglected from the count.

With this number, the Squadron Capacity, the Wing Capacity is then calculated. To find the Wing Capacity, divide the Squadron Capacity by 6, then if the result is not a whole number, round up to the nearest whole number. That number is the Wing Capacity.

For Example: Task Force Aurek, TF:A, is capable of holding 52 squadrons of fighters. Dividing by 6 gives us 8.6667, which then rounds up to 9. Task Force Besh, TF:B, is capable of holding 14 squadrons of fighters. Dividing by 6 gives us 2.333, which then rounds up to 3.

Method of Assignment

Assigning Wing Numbers follow a strict set of rules.

• Always start with 1.
• Always start with Task Force Aurek.
• Always start with the First Fleet.
• One round traverses every single fleet and its task forces.
• Each task force should be assigned one wing number per round, until reaching its capacity.
• Upon reaching its wing capacity, said task force is then skipped for the remainder of the assignment process.
• One turn traverses every single fleet's current task force rank.
• Each fleet should be assigned one wing number per turn, until all task forces within the rank has been assigned a wing number or skipped.
• Each turn involves assigning the next number to the next task force in the next fleet.
• In the case a task force is at its wing capacity, it is skipped.
• In the case a fleet does not have a task force in the current turn's rank, it is skipped.
• Wing Numbers are assigned to wings within the task force starting with the largest ship, regardless if another ship has a higher carrying capacity.
• Stations with fighter squadron compliments assigned to a task force are always assigned last.
• If the task force contains the flagship of the fleet, that ship is always the first to be assigned a wing regardless of its size, unless it does not have any fighter compliment.

For example: 1 is assigned to TF:A, first rank task force within the First Fleet. It is also the flagship bearer of the First Fleet. Thus 1 is assigned to its flagship, Executor-class mSSD Atrus. 2 is then assigned to the first rank task force of the Second Fleet, TF:L. 3 is then assigned to TF:OR, etc.

After traversing through all six Fleets, the turn ends, then 7 is assigned to the second rank rank force within the First Fleet, TF:B. The assignment continues through the round until every single task force in the Navy has been assigned one, and only one, wing number. The next round is then started with TF:A again. The process continues until all wing capacities has been filled.
