All that is known about Dexter is that at one point in his career, he grabbed onto a frag grenade with his left arm. His partner, Dick Smith, also grabbed the frag grenade with his right arm. Neither of them knew it was live, so both lost their respective arms in the explosion, resulting in them getting mechanical ones. Dick chose to paint his maroon, while Dexter painted his orange.
