Bio

Commander Hague is the captain of the Despoiler which was previously known as the Agrippa in the pAtoran navy. Nothing about his appearance particularly stands out, when asked to describe him most struggle to describe much beyond his commonly stern visage. He is of average height, with small dark eyes and just a short crop of white hair. Like most men moving into their latter years he often struggles with his weight and is beginning to expand around the middle. Whilst it would be hard to describe his tactical ability having come from a naval force which has seen relatively little action he has proved himself adept in all engagements. He has a penchant to take bold and sometimes foolhardy moves in both military and personal aspects of his life, often working on gut instinct and ignoring advice from his peers once he has come to a decision. This aspect of personality has been at the heart of his career advancement, but also his great downfall. In his personal life he is much more relaxed and approachable than when on duty. Often he will explode at a junior bridge officer for a mistake in the day and shout them off the bridge, only to be found joking over a drink with the officer in the evening happily offering career advice.

History

Hague was well schooled in his youth and was educated under a military scholarship at an impressive institution, studying galactic history. His early years were relatively quiet starting out as a junior officer on a small frigate on border patrols. He was often noted for his diligence and impressive work ethic, but never displayed any outstanding qualities in his duties. It was relatively late in his life that he earned his first captaincy, but it was only under the weight of such responsibility that he began to stand out. During an engagement with a small raiding party he had a squadron of fighters he started to gain his reputation for bold moves as his ship charged into the swarm of pirate vessels, suffering heavy damage but scattering their opposition.

Despite rarely displaying any great tactical ability he became a know public figure during the events of 1ABY. A nearby world had purchased a pair of Victory-Class Star Destroyers and had placed them in a threatening position during negotiations over the use of a rich mining source of the border. Hague had only just been given command of the Agrippa and was assigned to take up a position near the border in a show of force. The aging Agrippa was overdue it's refit and Hague was under orders to keep her out of combat, but to just add her presence during the negotiations. He ignored his orders when one of the Victory Class ships mistakenly moved into Patoran space. Pre-Refit the Agrippa was hopelessly outgunned by the Star Destroyer, but Hague had his crew pull of a risky hyperspace jump with all squadrons ready to launch. The Agrippa popped out of hyperspace right on top of the Star Destroyer and launched all fighters at virtually point blank range. The Agrippa then turned her guns on the Destroyer's launch bays. The fighters and bombers caused so much damage before the Destroyer could react that her Captain panicked and surrendered. No further conflict ensued, but the negotiations rapidly swung in favour of Pator.

Hague was one of many openly gay servicemen in the Patoran Navy, but his downfall occured after an unfortunate incident involving the press and several much younger officers. His retirement was pushed through in short order and he took his pension and left his ship. Such was the public nature of the incident that he was never left in peace and he started considering other options.

His oppoturnity arose when a pilot inherrited a Duchy and took control of the Patoran fleet. Nicknamed the 'Mad Duke' by many stalwarts of the fleet he immediately started using his wealth to purchase ships and replace officers with foreign mercenaries. When the 'Mad Duke' declared war on neaby worlds a plan was hatched. The Agrippa feigned hyperdrive failure as the fleet launched on on another assault. With most of the fleet elsewhere the loyal bridge crew placed Hague back in charge and they headed out of Patoran space.

Hague and the loyal officers had been collecting as much of their personal credits as possible to offer pay for the ship's crew. Hague had made some money from a biography launched years before and had been quietly selling off his assets over the previous months. Many of the ships crew chose to return to Pator, particularly the young pilots, Hague was left with a powerful ship and a hangar full of fighters, but a skeleton crew and a handful of pilots.

During the following months he replied to many applications to tender for military services, but was always ignored in favour of reputable defence contractors. Accepting their position he accepted a position with a private contractor under a fairly corrupt and cowardly businessman. It became apparant over the next months that the company wasn't really interested in their services, but was actually attempting to run his ship into the ground so the company could buy Hague and his crew out of their vessels at a low price.

During the defense of a convoy an outmatched Osk raiding fleet made a last ditch attempt to bribe Captain Hague and were quite surpised at the results. Convinced that pirating would offer a far more lucrative career path he renamed the ship Despoiler
