The Skill: Electronic Warfare[edit]

Camouflage has been a part of survival for as long as there have been predators and prey. Prey use camouflage to avoid the notice of predators, whilst predators use similar techniques to approach prey unseen. Even with advanced sensor packages and cloaking technology, one simple rule remains: If you cannot be seen, you cannot be shot. Electronic Warfare is the art of using advanced technology in order to avoid detection by the enemy, and pilots learning this skill often also pick up stealth techniques they can use even without the latest jamming systems.

The hallmark of smugglers, pirates and special agents alike, electronic warfare is vital for anyone whom wishes to get in close - or get past - someone without being detected. Highly technical, this skill requires a good knowledge of not only your equipment and how it is used, but the equipment and techniques that you will need to be able to defeat.

They can't have disappeared. No ship that small has a cloaking device.

—Captain Lorth Needa, astounded that his prey disappeared.

Specialisation Mission: "The radar, sir! It's been Jammed!"[edit]

After a week of hard training and simulation, you will attempt to prove you have become proficient in electronic warfare by taking part in a simulated combat mission, for which you will fly your standard starfighter, operating in a nebula that jams all sensors. You will be operating Your objective is simple: Using your knowledge of electronic warfare learned through the resources supplied in this page, guide your fighter past a New Republic patrol consisting of four X-Wing Starfighters..
VENA Instructors will be looking for believable storytelling and proof that you have learned the basics of stealth in Starfighter Combat.

Qualification Mission: "Not if I can help it. Chewie...jam its transmissions!"[edit]

After extensive training and real-combat practise in electronic warfare, you are ready to prove you have learned electronic warfare to a higher degree. In a simulated mission, for which your standard starfighter has been upgraded with a jamming device, you must complete the following objective: Using your knowledge and experience in Electronic Warfare, you will pursue and destroy a pair of fleeing X-Wing Starfighters before they can send a distress signal.
VENA Instructors will be looking for highly realistic storytelling and proof that you have achieved a high degree of proficiency in the use of jamming systems in Starfighter Combat.

Skill Equipment: 4x-Phantom Short-Range Sensor Jammer[edit]

First used by the Rebel Alliance's A-Wing Starfighter, the Phantom Short-Range Sensor Jammer can absorb and block incoming pings from sensors, making it invisible to all but the most highly sophisticated sensor systems without alerting anyone, making for a sophisticated stealth system, falling just short of actual cloaking technology.

In combat, the Jammer can be switched to 'active' mode, which will use a distortion projector to block nearby scanners and targeting computers by hostile craft, and it can even be used to jam communications and sensor data going either to or from the fighter, cutting it off from everything around it.

Naval Certifications[edit]

Once you have Qualified in Electronic Warfare, you are one step closer to being able to complete the following Certifications:
Strategic Reconnaissance Pilot: Masters of both detection and remaining hidden, Strategic Reconnaissance Pilots can infiltrate any location and escape undetected.
Unconventional Operations Pilot: You know every trick in the book? Then toss it out and write your own! No-one can predict what these nutters will do. NO ONE!
