Current status[edit]

Vorssk 'Krayt' Attragal is currently Executive Officer aboard the LCR Duty

Biography[edit]

Appearance[edit]

At 5'9, Krayt was what his family considered the runt of the litter. He was smaller than his kin by far and often looked as if he was weak. By the age of 6, however, Krayt had earned himself his callsign - he was not only stronger than his larger kin, but faster and smarter too. He was often made fun of for his size, but those who did quickly regretted it. His hard, sandy brown-come-orange scales were vibrant and full of life, reflecting the energy within him. Twin green eyes blazed at the world around him, full of aggression and intelligence, while his claws and teeth alike were razor sharp.

Personality[edit]

Krayt was your stereotypical Trandoshan - fiery, prejudiced and above all predatory. Despite his aggression, Vorssk was smart and excelled in the use of tactics, as well as believing strongly in the Scorekeeper and all facets of the deity's following. He had a tendency to snarl and hiss when angry or annoyed, and quite often snapped at his subordinates. However; he knew when to control himself and when he had gone too far, a rarity among his species.

History[edit]

Born before the time of the Empire, Vorssk Attragal was always the smallest of his kin. Until the age of six, Krayt was bullied and teased about his size. It was not abnormal to see Trandoshans smaller than he, but among his family he may as well have been a midget - even though most of his family only stood around the 6'2 mark. It led to a deep bitterness and, when he turned 6, the young Trandoshan finally snapped. He pummeled his brothers into submission and became the dominant male amongst the others of his age. Despite this, he was often insulted about his size - but those who insulted him quickly learned no to. He established a posse of sorts among his fellow younglings, being the alpha-male in their midst. He was top dog, so-to-speak, and the other Trandoshan males knew it.

Even given his superiority - he developed unnaturally fast reflexes and abnormal strength for one of his age, due to his commitment to becoming the best warrior he could be - Vorssk Attragal, otherwise known as Krayt, was still an outsider. He could laud his superior development over them all he wanted, but he'd always be the runt to them. No matter how much power he asserted, they continued to whisper and laugh behind his back. He did not enjoy it and while growing up, Krayt grew more and more introverted and aggressive,

prone to lashing out at whomsoever annoyed him sufficiently. It got to a point that his brother - the biggest of his family at 6'6 - harrassed him to the point of violence. Now a young adult at 17, Krayt responded with violence all right, going into a frenzy and ripping his brother's throat out. Krayt himself was stunned at his blood rage and his family banished him from their clan.

Exiled, alone and angry, Krayt went the only place he could - to the slavers. By this time the Empire and the Trandoshans had come to a mutually beneficial arrangement for the enslavement of the Wookiees, and Krayt eagerly jumped into the trade. He got caught up in an extremist slaver gang known as the Scorescales, fiercely religious and patriotic, believing firmly in the Hsskor Dominion and in the fact it should be a galactic power. At first Krayt did not like it much, but they treated him as equal more or less. Other than the typical newbie treatment, he was not degraded at all. He began to conform to their views, to agree with them and enjoy the slavery he took part in. His mentor, Kryussk Grattak, saw great potential in him and began to take an interest in his development - that is to say his hunting, fighting and natural reflexes - and started to guide the young slaver into what he saw as the perfect Trandoshan.

The Scorescales maintained a single CR-90 Corvette, a gift from a friendly Imperial Commander who had been personally affected by their excellent work. Configured to hold Starfighters, Krayt took an interest in these machines of speed and death. Grattak made him a deal - if he would follow Grattak without question and train as much as Grattak wished, the Trandoshan would teach Krayt how to fly the fighters. Krayt agreed hurriedly and as a result, was shaped more and more into Grattak's perfect Trandoshan slaver. He single handedly killed three wookiees under Grattak's tutelage and collected their pelts, thereby significantly increasing his jagannath points under the watchful Scorekeeper. The pinnacle of his career was when he pursued a fleeing silverback through space, shooting its fighter down in the forests of Kashykk, the wookiee homeworld. Tracking him for three days, Krayt was ambushed and almost killed before he managed to put a clip of his slugthrower into the huge being to put it down.

When he returned he was celebrated as one of the foremost Trandoshan hunters in the galaxy and certainly the best of the Scorescales. But something was wrong.. Grattak had been killed while he was away, slain by a rebel saboteur as the enemy agent tried to free a captive wookiee. The Rebel in question was gunned down by other Trandoshans, but this took its toll on Krayt. Three days later he signed up to be a pilot with the Empire and, while he was not treated with much respect, his talents earned him considerable reputation in the eyes of his wingmates. He soon passed training with flying colours and was assigned to an Interceptor Squadron aboard the ISD-II Liberator, just after the fall of the Empire proper. He earned himself ace status quickly, downing twelve Rebel fighters with a vengeance in the space of two missions and eliminating a further five fighters of other Imperial Splinter factions.

When the Liberator defected, Krayt wasn't surprised nor did he particularly care. He asked his superiors simply if he could continue killing rebels - the answer to which was a definitive yes. Krayt was transferred from the Liberator - now the Adjudicator - to the mSSD Atrus, serving with distinction there for a few years and earning himself another twelve kills over three years. He had impressed someone and was given his own squadron, named after a vanquished Imperial Dominion force known as 'Wingmaw'. With Wingmaw, the Trandoshan SCO earned only three kills - their assignments were mostly defence and counter-piracy. But after a significant period his diligence paid off - a transmission came through stating that he was to transfer back to the Adjudicator to become part of the famed Blade Wing and better still, the elite Vornskr squadron. Upon his arrival, though, the now adult Trandoshan was slightly disappointed - he was given command of a less distinguished squadron in the same wing.

Chlovi Squadron was green and wounded in the same sense. Despite their experience at Bloodmoon, most of the members had not really understood the realities of being in a Squadron like Chlovi. He knew at least two of them had heard of him before and he was determined to whip them into shape..

Service History[edit]

After a less-than-inspiring tenure as Chlovi Squadron Commander, Naval High Command had other things in mind for him. He was rotated back to his old squadron, doing his old duties. It was sometime during this stint of duty that the Wingmaw Squadron encountered a disguised New Republic raider, meaning to wreak havoc on the Vast Empire's shipping lanes. Wingmaw engaged and destroyed the raider, but at a cost - 'Krayt' was shot down and crash-landed on a nearby moon. He was out there for three days before he could be extracted. He was wounded in the loss of his right hand, but as with all Trandoshans - he regenerated limbs. It was no major issue, but for the time being he was unable to pilot his fighter.

Knowing that both he and Lieutenant Commander Aita were distinguished Squadron Commanders, upon the latter's reactivation - and after a psyche check that confirmed Krayt was unfit for active command at the present time, pending reevaluation in a period of months - Naval High Command assigned 'Krayt' to Hades' first ever crew. The Trandoshan loved flying, so was less than happy about this and often found reasons to point out flaws in his commanding officer's actions, especially ones that could be used to justify his transfer.
