Physical Description[edit]
Grayson is of medium height, with a slim but strong build. His blonde hair is usually an inch or so long and is complemented by a blonde soul patch extending from his lower lip to the tip of his chin. Bright blue eyes complement his pale skin well, but often look icy when contrasted against a black imperial flight suit. When off duty Grayson usually wears black slacks with solid color long-sleeve shirts and a black vest, along with black leather belt and boots.
Personality[edit]
A career TIE pilot, Hedge typically keeps himself contained with practiced discipline. While on duty he’s unfailingly conscientious about performing his duties and puts a high priority on getting the job done- with as few casualties as possible. He often demands much of his pilots, but never more than he asks of himself. When off duty among his pilots Grayson is known to loosen up and becomes engaging and friendly, but carefully maintains a professional distance even then. The only time he truly relaxes is when gambling- the one vice he pursues on a regular basis.
Personal History[edit]
Grayson is Vast Imperial born and bred- that is, Imperial born and bred and loyal to the Vast Empire since its inception. He grew up on Abrae itself, the son of a pair of career gamblers who made their living in the tapcafes and gambling halls catering to off duty soldiers. As he grew up the young man became interested in stage magic and was soon known for his quick fingers and even quicker mind. His exploits at pulling off unlikely stage magic stunts and the gambling skills passed on by his parents soon earned him the nickname “Wager,” which he uses to this day.
Wager’s life changed as he hit his late teens. The Empire was collapsing under the Rebellion’s pressure, and the Vast Empire was newly risen from the ashes to maintain peace and order in the sectors of space near Abrae. As the moon lit up with a surge of activity centered on the base expansion that would soon lead to Naval Headquarters being set up there, he found himself watching the TIE squadrons screaming by with more and more envy. Grayson’s imagination lit up, and as soon as he was old enough the young man volunteered to join the Vast Imperial Navy.
At first it looked like he might get shunted into Starfighter Maintenance due to a lack of personnel in that area at the time of his training, but he insisted on flying and earned himself the chance to take the flight test. He didn’t ace it, but he wasn’t far off either. Impressed, the Training Officer he’d approached pushed his application up the chain of command with a priority flag and that was that: Wager had gambled and won. Now it was time to see if he could cover the bet for the next round.
Deployment followed training and the blonde man excelled. Others died around him, but he managed to always return from battle…though he limped crippled craft into messy crash landings on the hangar floor a couple times. But the fighter was repaired every time, and he was always there for the next battle. Impressed with the craft’s endurance after all the damage it had taken, he unofficially christened it the Lady Luck about the time he made Squadron Executive Officer of Sylvaf Squadron.
