Appearance

Sergeant Brightstar has the typical build of a warrior, athletic and muscular. She stands about average height for a young woman of her age and she weighs less now than she did when she joined the Stormtrooper Corps almost four years ago. Although she has lost some of her athletic prowess, due to several stays in various medical bays, Brightstar is still just as deadly as she has always been.

Bright remains one of the most noticible troopers in the Vast Empire for her long flame red hair and violet eyes. Also the sincerity she exudes from her being is something that many find rather unnerving considering she has been in squads that rely on deception to get the job done. She has several noticible scars adorning her features but none so readily apparent as the scar that streaches in a jagged line from her right ear to under her right eye, the souveneir of an ill fated leave to Mygeeto. The gunney's left arm is a cybernetic replacement for the one she lost while on Mygeeto. It does not bother her now as much as it did when it had first been replaced.

Despite her outward rugged and harsh appearance, Bright is not without beauty. Her fine features are both graceful and angular giving her an almost feline quality, and by far the most striking feature is her eyes. Violet in color, they hold a sense of insight that most don't expect. Her eyes are ever observant, watching everything and noticing most details that others fail to see.

Other identifying features that Brightstar possess, are tattoos of the insignia of her first squad on her right shoulder blade (a stylized insignia of Eclipse Squad), A tatoo that signifies her second squad, Jester, on her right shoulder (The head of a laughing jester).

Though Bright is generally seen with a look of utter seriousness about her, she actually has a rather wicked sense of humor. It isn't often seen as mostly she's smack dab in the middle of a chaotic scene of some sort or another. She generally leaves the jokes up to her other squadmates. However, she does have a rather nice smile and generally it takes a spectacular joke, or an unexpected kind word, to unveil it.

Strong, independent, and determined. Three words that have been used to describe Brightstar since her days in the Academy. Her strong will has saved her from many foes, including herself. Her unwillingness to back out of a direct challenge has on occation gotten her into more tight spots than she would care to ever admit. Somehow, she has survived all of her ordeals, and taken with her not only her life but a lesson from each of her trials. Truth be told though, it is her determination to succeed and live that has been one of her greatest assests. The woman simply does not know how to die.

While still liking the security of a team, Bright remains uniquely independent. She doesn't like to get too close to people, because it is too easy to get hurt that way. At least thats the way she used to feel. After losing so many of those that she had once considered comrades and friends, Bright has found that path to be far too icey. She has, since her third return to the VE Army ranks, found that it is a much friendlier environment if one has friends and people for which to care for. Friendship and comraderie for Brightstar is what has managed to pull her back from darkness that she was unsure she would be able to live with. As such it has become very important for her and she takes it hard when she is unable to protect those friends.

Bright has a strong sense of justice and will do what ever it takes to bring it to those who deserve it. Not a quality a lot of stormtroopers have, given the era of war that they live in. It is this strong sense of justice that has both saved and taken the lives of many New republic citizens and sodiers. Although Bright has a vengful hate toward the New Republic and those that attacked her while on Mygeeto, she will not take the life of an innocent if she can help it.

She is a champion of children no matter what walk of life they are from. Yes, even NR children can count on her to protect them. Bright wants to preserve the image of the hero that she has come to know in a former stormtrooper who had saved her life when she was a child. She believes children to be the future and knows that what they percieve early in their lives will be what they come to KNOW in the future.

And yes, even the most hardened of hearts is capable of love. Bright's own capability for this is only known to a select few. For those that have come to know her, and have not yet seen this side of her, it generally comes as a great surprise. Bright presents to the galaxy a face that is often as emotionless as a stone. This, however, has changed since her return to the VE. She has shown her emotions on several occassions and sometimes even in the heat of battle when normally she wouldn't. She believes that even her enemy deserves someone to mourn them; Brightstar provides this and will continue to do so long after she has left the deserts of Thyveck.

Bio

Childhood

Taken from the pychiatric report concerning Sergeant Brightstar D'Jonoc recalling her childhood

She was born to the Brightstar River Clan on the planet of Dathomir during the Imperial Occupation of the planet. Her clan had been known for its strong apposal of the Empire's Occupation, therefore, she grew up hating and fearing those that wore the white armor. Despite her fear and hatred, she seemed to have been able to find some happiness as a young child. She said she once confessed to her mother that she had found friendships with the older warriors of the clan. The children her own age seemed to shun her for reasons Brightstar is unwilling or unable to identify.

She explained in one session that by the time she was six, she had learned to use a sling with devisating accuracy and a spear to equall effect. (This is not a terribly surprising revelation after having seen the results of her weapon's proficiency exams.) Sgt Brightstar also states that the older warriors in turn soon found that she was useful to have on hunting excursions. She had developed a talent for tracking, and was able to track most any beast that they had chose to hunt at the time. (This talent is also evident in her career as a bounty hunter. Her track record for completed hunts is impressive.)

By her tenth birthday she was being strongly considered for early warriorhood. The night of her birthday she performed the tasks she needed to complete to be awarded her first spear of Adulthood and the right to wear lizard hide armor as a true warrior of the clan.

It was during the Ceremony that the Nightsisters attacked. Nightsisters were/are dark force users who delight in tormenting the clans that devote themselves to using the light side. Her clan was a clan that was devoted to the so called light side. That night, however, the Nightsisters were bent on the destruction of her clan. She recalls that everyone reacted quickly, but the Nightsisters had the element of suprise and had already taken out three of her clan's warriors. She had been charged with looking after the younger children, away from the fighting.

Despite her distance from the worst of the conflict, she remembers having had a good vantage point. The sight of her mother falling to a Nightsister has left a deep scar on her psyche, and that image will likely forever be etched into her memory.

It is at this point that she seems to remember a squad of stormtroopers arriving. She praises them for saving her life and the lives of those she had been charged with protecting. She states that she joined the VE Stormtrooper Corps, not because she felt that she owed the Stormtroopers who saved her a debt, but because she wanted the chance to do what they did for her. She wanted the chance to be a hero.

Adoption and Life on Bakura

This time of Brightstar's life remains a mystery. Though many have tried to find out more about this time period, all efforts have ended in failure. It is unknown if Brightstar herself is responsible, or if some outside factor was paid by the Baelore ambassadors to erase what was known. All that is known for sure, is that Brightstar was adopted as a child by well known and well respected Bakuran ambassadors who had wished for a child of their own.

It is also known that Brightstar refers to her adopted parents as her family. Beyond this, as has become normal, Brightstar D'Jonoc is a mystery.

The Smuggling Life

Some might have speculated that the galaxy during the middle of a civil war was no place for a fifteen year old young woman. Bright would have agreed at most points. However, she had believed it was for her to find her own place. Smuggling became her talent. Truth be told, smuggling became her life.

Bright's first assignment was on a borrowed ship full of weapon parts. She did complete her assignment....barely. Had it not been for Bright's capable piloting and cool head, she'd have been boarded and shot on sight and the cargo recovered. Over time, the young woman would develop a reputation for being on time and able enough to avoid being caught. She wasn't the best, and for a long time she had idolized Han Solo, but Bright was already an experienced smuggler by the time she had met Riqimo Pershaw on Teyr.

When she had met the incredibly scoundrel-like Riqimo, Bright had been stranded on the planet Teyr. She'd found that all her negotiating skills were not enough to barter passage off planet. Bumping in to Riqimo had likely saved the then seventeen year old's sanity. Riqimo had the same problem of being stranded on Teyr and Bright had helped him get the parts he needed to repair his ship the Golden Davk. That would spark a close friendship between the two and Bright would remain with Riqimo for over two years helping him in his own smuggling.

The Heist

The day that Pershaw suggested the idea of stealing the precious family jewels of a Hutt on Nar Shadda, Bright had originally thought it would be a great idea and great fun. By the time the heist was carried out, Bright had begun to think differently. Though they did manage to rid themselves of most of the jewels, one particular set became a precious necklace that Riqimo gave to Bright. Likely unknown to him she still has that necklace, locked in a hidden compartment on one of her several ships. Which one is unknown as Bright has not indicated she even still has them.

Despite Pershaw's careful planning on the heist, somewhere it took a turn neither of them could foresee. The run ins with the bounty hunter Ryan Karrax, otherwise known as RK, would keep the two of them on their toes. Eventually the two smugglers became seperated. Bright would end up avoiding capture several more times before finding a transport back to Bakura. There she would undergo another six months of diplomatic training under Senra Baelore's wing.

The Vast Empire

Though Bright had originally been glad to be back among familiar faces and a familiar routine on Bakura, she still felt as though she didn't fit. It was while on a visit to Tadath with Senra, that Bright felt that she had found her place. Bright stayed on Tadath while Senra, after much persuasion, returned to Bakura.

Bright joined the academy and was taken under the wing of a particularly unusual instructor known only by the name of Sgt. Godfrey. Bright liked the man and often sought his advise in her first weeks at the academy. Godfrey would also later come to view Bright as a protege in a way, even though she was always away on a mission after her first placement into Eclipse Squad.

It was in Eclipse where Brightstar would litterally run head on into her past. Not only did she find that Riqimo had also found his way into the VE Army, but so had the man that had once hunted her, RK. It would surprise her however, the friendship, and later romance, that she would form with the former bounty hunter.

Ill Fated Leave

Brightstar's memory of her leave to Mygeeto was something that had left something to be desired. She remembered only a few details that concerned how she had actually lost her arm and recieved the scar that had marred her face. When she had tried to remember what had happened to Aeos, then platoon commander of Storm, all Bright had gotten out of it was frustration and a headache. To this day she remembers very little of that day and the days that had followed.

In truth all anyone has to go on for Bright's story is her own. She remembers that her attackers were New Republic troopers, likely off duty and looking to score an easy hit. She remembers having been surrounded and that her own weapons were used against her. The loss of Brightstar's fireblades was confirmed to her by a the young man that had saved her on Mygeeto. Other than those parts of her story, Bright draws a complete and total blank.

During her time as a smuggler, Rain became very familiar with many of the languages used in her line of work. As a bounty hunter she added to that list proving to be a quick learner. However, do to the differences in her vocal cords as apposed to other species, some languages she can only understand and not speak.

Brightstar is also a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, and talented with primitive weapons. She has almost no equall in the use of spears and other polearms.

Feats

She is a skilled hunter and tracker which made her a natural choice for recon work and bounty hunting. Bright is also a strong swimmer and runner though recent injuries and health problems have somewhat dimminished her athletic prowess.

Depspite her primitive beginnings, Bright has become increasingly capable with several computer systems and communications equipment. These abilities have been gained after many years of smuggling and during her time in the Vast Empire. She has also proven to be a fairly capable pilot.

5YQ-B35- 5YQ-series Protocol Droid

B35 was the first droid I bought to help me to understand the wookie language spoken by some of my platoon mates. He has been an immense help in many missions as well, ok so many before mission sessions when I would need to understand a native language. Not as quick to flee as the C-3 series droids, B35 has been with me since the beginning.

AD- AD series Weapons Maintenance Droid

AD was the droid I bought to maintain my ever growing collection of weapons and armor. Although he insisted that it look after my Fireblades and Dagger Thorns, I chose not to allow him to care for those weapons, and now he never will. AD's knowledge of weapons and armor lead me to start my training in Heavy Weapons Specialization. I didn't get very far in my training but I do look forward to continuing it with AD as a secondary guide.

R2-R5- R2 Astromech Droid

R5 is the most rescent aquisition of all my droids. But he is by far the most active. During my stay with Tracen and his crew R5 helped them all to fix up the Dathomiri Eclipse. He is the only droid that pretty much never leaves my side. I assure you that R5 will remain with me untill he can no longer function.

Med- GH-7 Medical Analysis Droid It is an all-purpose disagnostician, hematologist, and surgical assistant. It is rarely underfoot, courtesy of a compact repulsorlift. Do to Bright's previous history with injuries and illness, her need for a medical droid of good quality became a reality in the form of Med, given to her by a friend of a friend. Exactly how it was procured, Bright doesn't know. She does know that Med has been rather useful as time has progressed.

Cyber- Model DD-13 "Galactic Chopper" The Chopper is a specialist, and its area of expertise is the installation of cybernetic implants, prosthetic limbs, and synthetic organs. It has a very impersonal, business-like image that is not so good for bedside manner. Then again Bright was never really known for hers either. Cyber was a personal aquisition that Bright bought off a junk dealer on Ord Mantel. Her need for one became apparent due to a cybernetic replacement arm after her own biological one was destroyed and subsiquently amputated. Despite its impersonal demeanor, Cyber has helped Bright to maintain her cybernetic arm at its peak efficiency.
