The Cappadocius is a modified Cardan-IV-class Space Station in service with the Vast Empire's Naval Academy.

Overview[edit]

PLF Cappadocious

History[edit]

Originally commissioned as the upscaled, modernised replacement of the PLF Saratoga, the Cappadocious' capacities were far beyond what Naval High Command initially expected. As such, it was realised that the need to have both the PLF Saratoga - an orbital training platform - and the Divisional headquarters on Abrae as two separate entities obsolete. Thus, the PLF Cappadocious became the official home of the Vast Empire Naval Academy, having incorporated a divisional headquarters and a training facility into one highly advanced testament to the growing wealth and power of the Vast Empire. A little known fact about the Cappadocious is that it was contributed to significantly by the funds of Ator, its Duke - Geordi Atrasin - and the Vast Empire's Navy, before the former fled the justice of the Vast Empire.. Named after the retired Naval Commander in Chief, Japheth Cappadocious, the Cappadocious Platform has seen even the most prominent members of the VEN start off as simple recruits.

It is known that the current Chief of Naval Warfare, Wyl Trykon and the current Chief of Naval Training, Demetrius Aita underwent their training on this storied Naval Platform.

Locations[edit]

Cappadocious Control; The CNT's office can be seen on the right-hand side, whilst Main Control can be seen facing to the front.

Cappadocious Control[edit]

The foundation of VENA's Cappadocious Platform, Cappadocious Control housed most of the sensor and command rooms, a tower of sorts that monitored the entire station as well as housing the CNT's office, a simulator room and at least one hangar.

Office of the Chief of Naval Training[edit]

A spacious, modern, yet austere office located on the side of Cappadocious Control closest to The Arm, the CNT's office looked out over the majority of the Cappadocious and more often than not, the planet of Abrae. It was known to have a reception area, refreshers, the CNT's sleeping quarters in addition to the office itself, which was known to be equipped with advanced holographic technology that allowed the CNT to coordinate a multitude of things from within. The CNT's office was also located nearby Cappadocious Control's hangar bay and several briefing rooms.

Cappadocious Main Control[edit]

Task Force Commander and Chief of Naval Warfare Wyl 'Trick' Trykon(center), his Task Force XO, Pherik 'Serpent' Zail(right) and Chief of Naval Training Demetrius Aita make use of Briefing Room 1 to discuss VENA-organised Fleet Exercises.

Cappadocious Main Control was the equivalent to a Star Destroyer's Bridge - it's where most of the Cappadocious' was run from and presented an excellent view of the station and its surroundings. It was always well-staffed, even during the graveyard shifts and it was rare to find the place in a lull. Given the constant comings and goings of training flights especially, the command crew had to be on their toes at all times. A plethora of highly advanced command consoles, holo-displays, sensor controls and communication systems ensured that Main Control could keep track of and cope with an excessive number of personnel, systems and equipment at the same time.

Layout
Main Control was divided into several different levels and sections, otherwise known as tiers, tier 1 being where the officer on duty would oversee things. There may have been as many as six tiers of Main Control, each section staffed differently and with a different purpose yet interconnected by the all-important first tier. At least one of these tiers related to communications, and another was dedicated to traffic control.

Auxiliary Hangar Bay[edit]

The Auxiliary Hangar Bay was located on the side of Cappadocious Control furthest from The Arm. Main Control can be seen in the right hand side of the picture, along with its many tiers.

Largely used for arriving dignitaries or high-ranking Naval Personnel, the Auxiliary Hangar Bay was conveniently located close to the major briefing rooms, the Chief of Naval Training's Office and Cappadocious Main Control. It could accomodate up to a flight of TIEs or two Lambda-class Shuttles.

Briefing Room 1[edit]

Simulator Bay Aurek was located adjacent to the main passage between Cappadocious Control and the Arm.

This was the main briefing room for command staff of the Cappadocious and where necessary, of the VEN in general. Known to have seats for around thirty people, the primary briefing room of Cappadocious Control was equipped - like the majority of the Cappadocious - with high-tech holographic displays and computers to streamline the briefing process.

Briefing Room 2[edit]

A secondary briefing room within Cappadocious Control, Briefing Room 2 was used in the event that Briefing Room 1 was occupied. Slightly smaller than the first briefing room, it nonetheless contained the same technology - albeit with a smaller capacity.

Simulator Bay Aurek[edit]

Simulator Bay Aurek was the first simulator room to be constructed aboard the PLF Cappadocious, housing 24 TIE/In Interceptor simulator cockpits. Primarily used for basic training, Bay Aurek was designed so that recruits could potentially go up against one another or indeed so that more experienced pilots could go up against them.

The Arm[edit]

Arm Control, located on the top of The Arm.
The Officer's Quarters, observation room and additional Generators.

Originally an extension of Cappadocious Control, the arm has grown into a no less valuable asset to the Cappadocious, serving as the home of the majority of simulators and barracks.

Arm Control[edit]

True to its name, Arm Control was the room from which control of the entire Arm could be exercised, responsible for ninety percent of the Arm's day-to-day running. It included a high-tech holographic interface that allowed the command staff to better manage said running. Also responsible for the weapons emplacements on the Arm, Arm Control was essentially a combat control center as well as a standard control room. If Main Control were to be for some reason inoperable, command of the entire Cappadocious platform could be exercised from Arm Control.

Stretching from the Officer's Quarters to past Arm Control, the Barracks ran parallel to the main corridor between Cappadocious Control and The Arm.

Officer's Quarters[edit]

Located closer to Cappadocious Control, the Officer's Quarters were just that. Deeming it necessary and proper for Officers to have separate rooms from the enlisted personnel, NHC commissioned a modern and comfortable yet still austere and functional block of rooms designed specifically for officers. Attached to the Officer's Quarters were not only two back-up generators in case the main reactor was downed, but also an observation room, from which occupants could look out on the PLF Cappadocious and Abrae.

Barracks[edit]

The general barracks ran lengthwise from adjacent the Officer's Quarters down past Arm Control. Most of these bunks were reserved for recruits completing basic training, while a secondary, NCO barracks was located at the bottom of Arm Control. Not only did this house NCOs serving aboard the Cappadocious, but also squadron commanders and fighter pilots other than those of Raptor Squadron.

Hangar Aurek[edit]

Hangar Aurek was located on the left-hand side of the Arm, shown here. Simulator Bay Besh is located within the belly of the raised structure and Hangar Besh is on the right-hand side, facing outward.

The Main Hangar of the PLF Cappadocious, Hangar Aurek housed the majority of the Platform's fighter complement, as well as almost half a dozen Lambda-class shuttles. Raptor Squadron's 12 TIE/In Interceptors were housed here, and could be dispatched at a moment's notice. However; Raptor Squadron - being primarily for Training - rarely had to exit speedily. The rest of Shield Wing, however, was the Cappadocious' main defense aside from its weapons emplacements, and was also housed within Hangar Aurek.

Hangar Besh[edit]

Hangar Besh was largely a resupply dock, where cargo shuttles and even small cargo vessels would dock to transfer supplies to and from the Cappadocious. Located on the opposite side of Hangar Aurek, the two Hangars formed as sort of sandwich, with Simulator Bay Besh in between. At least six TIE Avengers were stored here for rapid deployment, though presumably an entire Squadron was available.

Simulator Bay Besh[edit]

Simulator Bay Besh, colloquially referred to as the 'Baybe' due to the likeness in pronunciation of certain syllables to the word 'Babe', was the largest simulator bay aboard the Cappadocious. Designed for ancillary training and the certification of fighter pilots in a greater capacity, Simulator Bay Besh had no less than fourty-eight simulator pods within, 12 TIE Bombers, Interceptors, Avengers and Defenders respectively. It was a one-of-a-kind, highly advanced design unrivaled by anything else in the galaxy. These simulator pods gave the Vast Empire's Navy a reputation for having some of the finest trained pilots around.

The Bridge Simulator, connected to the arm by a single tunnel, was one of the most isolated locations on the Cappadocious
Unlike many of the rooms aboard the Cappadocious, briefing room 3 had a long window on the far wall, making it a somewhat pleasant space to sit.

One of the first acts that the new Chief of Naval Training passed was the decision to invest in brand new simulator technology. Unfortunately, this decision - while installing smoothly - ultimately resulted in the simulators glitching heavily. After a few week's repairs on them, Hades and the VENA staff managed to get them up and running at above-optimal levels, turning the supposed disaster into a victory.

The Zero-Gravity Simulator was one of the Vast Empire's most radical additions to the Cappadocious, and the furthest tip of The Arm.

Bridge Simulator[edit]

The Cappadocious' Bridge Simulator was constituted of advanced, realistic technology that allowed it to emulate a real-life bridge of anything up to an Imperial Star Destroyer. Renowned as impossible to distinguish between what was artificial and what was real, the simulator trained all Fleet Cadets as well as most Ship Captains. Located on the left-most tip of the Arm, the Bridge Simulator was an isolated location, but easily accessible through the tunnel that connected it to the rest of the massive facility.

Zero-G Simulator[edit]

Located on the furthest tip of The Arm, the Zero-G simulator was used to acclimatise trainees to the sensation of having no gravity, in order to prepare them for the event that gravity failed while aboard a capital ship, or - as far as Special Warfare was concerned - train them in the use of Zero-gravity combat methods. It was a reasonably large structure, housing its own generators (which could be re-routed to power the Cappadocious if necessary) and a movement-come-combat course, as well as a small control room. Some found Zero-G relaxing and used the room as a leisure-center.

Briefing Room 3[edit]

The Firing Range was a slim, semi-circular structure located close to two additional power generators.

Briefing Room 3 was the room where the majority of trainees underwent their first mission briefing, a spacious auditorium-style structure with enough seats for up to fourty - though the most that were usually in there was around twenty four, more or less. Like all the other briefing rooms aboard the Cappadocious, the third room was equipped with high technology holographic projectors and interfaces as well as a personal interface for each of the fourty seats. This was designed so not only could trainers hold briefings here, but situate exams and mental assessments all in one, through the personal consoles.

Firing Range[edit]

A rounded structure and somewhat smaller than the majority of the rooms aboard the Cappadocious, the firing range was a place where VENA members (recruits and trainers alike) as well as staff of the PLF Cappadocious could go to update their skill with blasters, or indeed qualify with further energy-based weapons. Candidates for the Imperial Marine program often trained here to keep their aim razor-sharp.

Current Assignments[edit]
