Squadron Specialization[edit]
The 38th Vast Imperial Starfighter Squadron, aka Vornskr Squadron, is best known for two things: 1. its high survivability rating and 2. the high number of kills they achieve during each deployment. If space superiority is the name of the game, then Vornskr Squadron is one of the top players out there.
Equipped with powerful TIE Avengers, the squadron's pilots are encouraged to fly solo and wreak as much individual havoc as possible before suddenly changing tactics and inflicting even more chaos upon the enemy combatants. If one thing can be said about the pilots of Vornskr Squadron, then that is likely that they're all predictably unpredictable.
Squadron Profile[edit]
Only the best of pilots are ever even considered for joining Vornskr Squadron. Typically they are veterans, having survived encounters that would've killed or scarred lesser pilots. They are men and women who have shown without a shadow of a doubt that they can fly any starfighter handed over to them. They are expected to hold their ground both when outnumbered as well as when dealing with superior enemy crafts. They are expected to follow orders but above all they are expected to get results.
If most squadrons out there - be them friendly or hostile - concentrate on teamwork and by-the-book tactics, the pilots of Vornskr Squadron are on the contrary told to instead focus on individual results and unorthodox approaches to problems. If getting accepted in Vornskr Squadron is almost every pilot's ambition, then impressing within this squadron is every Vornskr pilot's dream. Pilots are thus taught and trained to be as competitive as they could possibly be, never satisfied with what they have and ever striving for more.
Squadron History[edit]
The current Vornskr Squadron was created as part of the Navy wide reform that occurred because - and against - the Imperial Dominion's forces. Ideas for all sorts of different squadrons were pushed forward and most of them were approved by the NHC in order for the latter to get a better idea of what exactly works... and what does not.
The idea behind Vornskr Squadron was that of a squadron created entirely out of top-notch pilots, men and women who have proven themselves time and again to be elite. Words such as legendary, epic, astonishing and unbelievable come to mind when considering the amount of talent that came together in this newly reformed unit. Words such as snobs, pricks, asses and bastards also come to mind though when considering the same amount of arrogance that came together in the same newly reformed unit...
Vornskr Squadron was recreated by bringing together elite pilots from the best VE Wing at the moment, Javelin Wing, by keeping and transferring the veterans from Blade Wing and by acquiring a few other pilots that had all shown exemplary flying skills throughout their service careers. Lieutenant Qorbin was chosen to lead this reformed unit and in so doing also prove once and for all that no amount of training and hard work will ever be able to beat natural talent and skill.

Equipment[edit]

Because outstanding skill may have been wasted in lesser crafts, the Vast Empire equipped the 38th Squadron with fully upgraded TIE Avengers. If a mediocre pilot would only be able to take an Avenger and make a difference, a Vornskr pilot would be able to take the same Avenger and make whole miracles with it.
The "brights" nickname given by the New Republic fighters suited the Vornskr pilots quite well actually, as many times the only things that enemy flyboys were able to see were either the exhaust trails left in their passing or better still the fast approaching green bolts of heated Tibanna gas rushing towards them.
Using their superior speed and mobility to their advantage, Vornskr pilots honor their squadron's motto by ensuring no enemy target can either flee or find refuge in the field of battle. Once a Vornskr has found its prey there is just no way escaping the inevitable...
