History[edit]

Following a successful escort mission of five Sentinel-Class shuttles from the planet Dastoria, it was revealed the cargo the shuttles were carry were in fact a dozen unconstructed Independent Droids. Known as 'IndyDros' for short, they are in fact heavily-armed and slightly modified TIE Interceptors. Essentially droid fighters, once they are activated they are able to go beyond dependent programming and not only learn from their opponents, but also share their gained knowledge amongst each other. Nazgul Squadron have been assigned to the Abrae, the Vast Empire Navy's base of operations and the location where the fighters were constructed. The reason being to fly in a controlled combat exercise against these droid fighters.

The exercise was set up such that the two squadrons of fighters would do battle in a zone 25 kilometers in radius, while remaining between 500 and 20,000 feet in altitude to ensure a proper test of the droids' low atmosphere combat abilities. Any fighter, human or droid who drops below 40% shields is signaled to land and have key parts taken off their fighter, essentially eliminating them from the battle.

Mission Objectives[edit]

  • Nazgul Squadron is to attempt and 'disable' the opposing droid squadron.
  • No fighter is to be physically damaged, droid or Nazgul-piloted.

Personnel Involved[edit]

Nazgul Squadron[edit]

Squadron Commander: Trevor Evenson
Executive Officer: Jen Knight
Flight Members: Casca, Darius, Evil Clown, Sol, Tomas, Valin Dale

Opposing Forces[edit]

12 IndyDros

Outcome[edit]

Evil Clown and Tomas managed to disable one IndyDro, and Evil Clown eliminated two more before members of Dastorian resistance took control of the droid crafts, eliminating the 40% shield 'safety net'. One other droid fighter as well as Chak Fel, Darius, and Hunter were also disabled prior to the takeover. The four downed droids returned to the fight following this event.

Now a real battle situation, Raigen, Nazgul Two (Jen Knight), and Nazgul Three destroyed enemy fighters. Jen Knight and a Nazgul pilot (Nazgul Four)was also destroyed. Meanwhile on the ground Chak Fel, Darius, and Hunter had made it to the armoury in an attempt to help out their airborne squadronmates.

Lust for the kill, and insubordination resulted in the shooting down of Evil Clown by fellow Nazgul Valin Dale as he fired the missile at an IndyDro. Evil Clown survived the crash with major wounds to the head. She was also found responsible for the incident. The confusion led to the escape of the enemy fighter and disorientation as Valin and Tomas struggled to avoid collision.

Fearing capture, the Dastorian resistance relinquished control of the droid fighters. Facility authorities managed to capture a resistance member by the name of Marcy.

After Effects[edit]

Following the battle, Trevor's leadership was recognized with a triple promotion to the rank of Ensign.

The loss of a second wingmate in as many missions, caused Tomas' confidence in his own leadership to plummet.
