Biography[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Helen Kraus is a 34 years old Human specimen. She's fit, though not particularly athletic. She's got short blond hair, dark brown eyes and a permanent somewhat serious expression on her face. Her demeanor may also appear rather intimidating at times...

Personality[edit]

Strict and demanding of those working under her guidance, but at the same time also understanding and sympathetic with their needs and wants.

Highly skilled and motivated, the woman is always on the move, always doing some thing or another. She is an excellent role model for those working under her tutelage.

Although she's a very loyal individual it can take a long time for another to actually earn her trust. It usually takes an even longer time for someone to earn her respect and admiration...

History[edit]

Born on Ord Vaug, Helen was however raised on Lotaith - the planet where her family moved to once the opportunity to do so presented itself. On Lotaith Helen benefited from some of the Vast Empire's better education. By the time she graduated from the civilian universities, the young girl already had a vast choice of jobs ahead of her. She decided to pursue a career in the R&D department, working as a civilian contractor for the Vast Empire's Navy.

It was thanks to that position that she eventually met her husband, a decorated VE ship captain, and it was also thanks to that position that the government began keeping a closer eye on her and her projects. It wasn't long before civilian projects were slowly replaced with military ones. At first there were small ship systems, mostly ones dealing in automation and safety control. Then came the more important ones such as gunnery control and encrypted communications.

Finally the woman was allowed to work on actual ship design - creating and improving various designs: both starfighters and larger capital ships alike. Helen Kraus was actually part of the team that worked on the highly improved TIE Interceptor design that the entire Vast Empire's Navy ended up using as their main Starfighter Corps vessel. She was also responsible for the direct improvement of a few key systems found in both Warden-class Cruisers as well as the larger and more dangerous DP20-class Gunships.

A highly respected figure in her line of work, Helen Kraus nevertheless agreed to put that on hold for the time being and instead serve as a Chief Engineer aboard a medium sized capital ship. It is unclear exactly why the woman agreed to such a change, or what exactly she hopes to gain through it... What is known however, unofficially of course, is that the Naval's Intelligence branch had something to do with her decision. The details of this supposed deal however remain classified to all but those with the highest clearance levels...

Since taking over as the Unchained's Chief Engineer, the ship's performance slowly began to rise as well. Not by particularly large margins, but still... a 0.7% increase in one department, a 0.58% increase in another, even a smaller 0.032% increase still meant that the ship was performing better with Helen Kraus aboard than it would've performed without her to supervise the entire Carrack cruiser's operation.
