History[edit]
Kaph has been sent to an outpost on the ocean planet of Mortain. They are stationed for a tour of duty on a floating base under the command of Commander Cherbourg. The hanger bay is only large enough to station a single squadron, so Kaph is alone. Besides the food, things go good until the base picks up a couple of capital ships on its long rang scanners. Before Commander Cherbourg is able to investigate, the blimps bring the fight to Mortain. It is a NR task force lead by Captain Manson which greatly out numbers and out guns the small Imperial force. It turns into a heated battle to defend the base until reinforcements can arrive.
Kaph uses Interceptors in this engagement. The reinforcements of Echo Squadron used Aggressors.

Outcome[edit]
The mission was successful, though losses were taken in Kaph and in Echo Squadron. The collective of Kaph Flight 1 finished off the CR90. The fight against the Lancer Frigate was extremely fierce, taking many pilots’ lives. It was finally finished off by Strangler with a single missile. There was also a short fire fight with in the Mortain Outpost between Imperial and NR forces, which ceased with the capture of Captain Manson.
After Effects[edit]
The greatest effect of the battle was the casualties in Kaph Squadron. The restructuring of Phoenix Wing and the stepping down of Willtconq as SC were most likely attributed to this fact. Other effects would include Kaph being returned to the Atrus after the battle.
