Current status

Trooper in Wraith Squad, serving out his sentence for the sensational murder of seventeen people, including two police officers. This new form of treatment has been termed "Aggressive Authoritative Recognition Rehabilition Therapy", and is only a theoretical method of treatment. There are several cases where similar treatment has been effective, but not in cases of sudden cases of anti-authoritarian rebellion, as in Rykin's case.

Appearance & Personality

Karl is a man of violent mood swings. He can be gregarious and jovial at one moment, then be brooding and melancholy the next. In a positive mood, Karl is placid, helpful, and altogether enjoyable to be around; his presence is brightening. In one of his blacker moods, Karl is irritable, caustic, flippant, even outright insulting. Psychologists suggest that these moods could deteriorate into further episodes of senseless and brutal violence as the one that made him a name know throughout the Galaxy.

Many of the interests that once held his attention have changed. Karl is prone to great displays of emotion when hearing certain pieces of music, and so avoids them. Sport continues to be a prime interest of his, as does the simple company of others. As a rule, he has retired from professional dejarik play, having played and monopolized the circuit in his late teens, but he's happy to advise others and play friendly games, so longer as he's in one of his good moods. In one of his bad moods, he's liable to play his opponent mercilessly, which means that even the best dejarik players are defeated in under 20 moves.

His brooding presence seems to lend itself to his appearance. Rykin's angular face would be handsome if it wasn't so grim most of the time, and if he does smile, his face seems to shine with forgotten happiness. The majority of the time his face could be carved of stone, even when he is in one of his better, less sullen moods. Rykin is a tad heavy for his height, a side effect of military training; his muscles are well-defined if seemingly out of place. He has very few distinguishing marks on him; little physical work has left his skin blemish free.
