This is an abbreviated timeline of galactic history. For a more complete version, please consult the version at Wookieepedia, from which the baseline information for our version is culled. All dates are given according to the Galactic Standard Calendar.

    • Kanan Jarrus takes up the ways of the Jedi once more. Takes on Ezra Bridger as his Padawan learner.

    • Ezra Bridger passes his trial to overcome his fears and receives a kyber crystal. He uses it to construct his lightsaber, completing it several weeks later.
    • Ezra sends out a message of rebellion the reaches Lothal and the surrounding star systems.

Galactic Civil War[edit]

  • 1 ABY/IY 20
    • Imperial task force under Grand Moff Raptor and Surface Marshal Vader are tasked to establish outposts in frontier to monitor Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium and other areas of Unknown Regions. Both take it upon themselves to lay the groundwork for a semi-independent fiefdom.
    • This effort is supported by Fleet Admiral Eagleye, who sides with the two leaders over the objections of a territorial Grand Admiral. While Eagleye's forces are successful in joining the faction, he himself is captured and taken to Coruscant to stand trial on charges of mutiny and dereliction of duty.

  • Before the Battle of Hoth
    • Death Troopers invasion.
    • The Rebel Alliance establishes Echo Base on Hoth, the sixth planet in the Hoth system. As such, the construction of Echo Base took place some time in that date range.
    • The faction consolidates its forces, as well as works on its relationship with the Empire. While among the few renegade factions in the Empire, it is temporarily allowed to exist without sanction as long as it abides by the mandate to patrol it's assigned sector and provide resources and taxation to Coruscant.

  • 5 ABY/IY 24
    • Battle of Jakku. The New Republic and Galactic Empire engage on Jakku, with the Republic emerging victorious.
    • The Galactic Concordance. The New Republic and Galactic Empire cease hostilities and both powers begin a process of disarmament. The remaining forces of the Galactic Empire retreat to the Unknown Regions.
    • In the wake of the loss of the Emperor at Endor, the Empire dissolves into a variety of factions. The Vast Empire officially separates itself from the Sate Pestage-led Remnant and asks for other forces to rally to its cause. Fleet Admiral Caramon Majere answers the call for assistance. His forces brings 4 Imperial-class Star Destroyers, 2 orbital factories, 1 ship repair yard, and 1 ship building factory.
    • General Kadann aligns himself with the Vast Empire, with his divisions of Imperial troops plus their vehicles and gears; as well as two pre-fabricated industrial factories.
    • The Vast Empire's original High Council is composed of Grand Moff Raptor, Surface Marshal Vader, and Fleet Admiral Majere.
    • The Vast Empire Navy is attacked by a rival Imperial faction and disbands. Fleet Admiral Majere is promoted to Executive Officer and High Admiral for the Vast Empire. Surface Marshal Vader is promoted to Moff.
    • GM Raptor and Moff Viper retire from the Vast Empire and settle on Lorn IV. They remain with the Vast Empire as Advisors. High Admiral Caramon Majere takes command of the Vast Empire and assumes the rank of Grand Admiral. Admiral Von Reinthaler and his command staff join the Vast Empire after fleeing from another Imperial faction. Admiral Von Reinthaler brings a number of command ships into the Vast Empire's fleet.
    • The Vast Empire is attacked by New Republic forces and is forced relinquish its patrol zone and relocate to the Epsilon Sector, which is under New Imperium rule. The Vast Empire joins the New Imperium and assigns two senators to represent the Vast Empire.
    • The Vast Empire takes command of the Erewhon, Rilke, Rodin, and Lorn systems located in the Naroon Quadrant of Epsilon Sector.
    • General Kadann is promoted to Prefect of the Army and Surface Marshal.
    • Surface Marshal Kadann is promoted to Executive Officer and the rank of Moff.
    • After a number of Army command changes, Major General Ramses Viper is promoted to Marshal and in command of the Army.
    • High Pirate Activity is noticed in the Lorn, Rodin, and Rilke Systems. Naval and Army forces confront the pirates and thwart them at every turn.
    • Negotiations with the New Corporate Sector Authority to upgrade the Vast Empire's arsenal begins. M/SSD Mustang is launched along with it's complement of TIE Devastators.
    • Moff Kadann promoted to Grand Moff, named High Sovereign Protector, and is placed in charge of the Vast Empire's Elite Special Forces Division.
    • Vast Empire Bank opens on Lorn IV, more banks expected to be opened on other planets within the Vast Empire's control.
    • Vast Empire's first store opened on Lorn IV, known as Imperial Center
    • Pay checks are finally handed out to Vast Empire members. Morale in the Vast Empire runs high. Stock Exchange development announced.
    • Gracchus System asks to join the Vast Empire for protection against attacks from the Pirates, Smugglers, and New Republic forces.
    • News of a New Republic fleet that is massing is announced. Vast Empire goes on high alert status.
    • Casino constructed on Rilke III
    • Plans for a cantina announced. Future Location to be announced later. Numerous planetary governors negotiating with Grand Moff Kadann for which planet it will reside in.

Calendar Correlation[edit]

Galactic Standard Calendar (BBY/ABY)

  • Zero year IU: Battle of Yavin
  • Zero year OOU: Events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope
  • Era: New Republic for the zero-year dating, but the holidays are celebrated under the Empire as well when using the Great ReSynchronization calendar.
  • Months: 10. No known names for months, but fete weeks have names: New Year Fete Week (five days at the beginning of the year, before the first month), Festival of Life (between the sixth and seventh month) and Festival of Stars (between the ninth and tenth month). Regional holidays have some known names, such as Boonta Eve and Harvest Day on Tatooine.
  • Week days: 5 days in a week: Primeday, Centaxday, Taungsday, Zhellday, and Benduday.

This is the most frequently used calendar in out of universe sources. Sometimes, "BSW4/ASW4" is also used to indicate this, referring to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, but it's just a different term for the exact same thing.[15] It was created in-universe some time soon before 25 ABY in the Legends continuity.[11] Events before the Battle of Yavin are denoted "BBY" (standing for Before the Battle of Yavin) and the numbers get smaller as you get closer to the Battle of Yavin (e.g. the Clone Wars break out in 22 BBY and end in 19 BBY). After the Battle of Yavin, dates are denoted "ABY" (standing for After the Battle of Yavin) and the numbers get bigger as you move further away from the Battle of Yavin (e.g. the Battle of Endor is in 4 ABY and Din Djarin meets Grogu for the first time in 9 ABY).

Months, weeks and days This is, of course, a mess. There are two different calendars, essentially, and it seems that different sources in both Legends and New Canon continuity pick and choose which one at random. Everyone agrees that "standard months" and "standard days" are determined by the rotation of Coruscant, but some sources claim Coruscant's year is 365 days long, and sometimes it's 368 with 10 months and an overly complicated series of holidays that are counted outside of months entirely. Sometimes it has 12 months and they don't specify how many days. It's a nightmare.

Every source agrees that, when referring to the "standard" units of time, there are 24 hours in a day. There are sixty seconds to a minute and sixty minutes to an hour.[18] Technically, Star Wars: Republic introduced the term "millicycle" to mean a minute, but it doesn't come up anywhere else, whereas the term "minute" is used very frequently across both continuities.

Times are written with four numbers followed by "standard time", e.g. "0824 standard time".[Note 3]

Shara Bey picks a fake Stormtrooper number based on Poe's birthday: TK-510.[24] Charles Soule confirmed on Twitter that it's the tenth day of the fifth month,[25] which means she put the month before the day. Is this how GSC dates are written? Is it just how Charles Soule writes it because he's American? Is it something to do with how Stormtrooper designations work? We sadly do not know.

10-month calendar Under this calendar, a standard year has 368 days. There are 10 months, each with 7 weeks of 5 days each. In addition to these unnamed months, there were three "fete weeks": New Year Fete Week (five days at the beginning of the year, before the first month), Festival of Life (between the sixth and seventh month) and Festival of Stars (between the ninth and tenth month). Because that still only brings it to 365 days, there are also three regional holidays that vary from place to place. Sometimes they are seasonal and move depending on the movements of the local celestial bodies, such as Tatooine's Boonta Eve and Harvest Day.

The High Republic: Saber for Hire uses the ten month calendar (though it's an unnamed year counting system, as we don't know what calendar was used during the High Republic era). Karen Traviss stated that Triple Zero used the "Galactic Standard Calendar" with ten months in it. As the book is set during the Clone Wars, she is probably referring to the structure of the GSC but the dating of GrS; we don't know, because dates are only given by "days since the Battle of Geonosis".

Coruscant Reckoning Calendar (CRC)

Difference between this and BBY/ABY: 7977 years

  • Months: Unknown, but there are 365 days in a year
  • Week days: (Unknown)

Dates are written as [Year].[Day].[Time of day], with the days of the year written from 1-365 and time of day measured in tenths. While this is true for the dates in Andor, the dates in Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious do not follow this system except for the year, as they were written before the system was worked out and operated only on vibes.

Within a given millennium, it was acceptable to indicate a date with only the last three digits of the first number preceded by an apostrophe (e.g. '945 instead of 7945). Within a century, the date could be indicated by the last two digits of that number; for instance, Exantor Divo recorded that he graduated from the Hosnian Prime Academy of Law Enforcement as part of the "Class of '96 (Hosnian Reckoning)." "Hosnian Reckoning" is the same thing as CRC.

Imperial calendar (BFE/AFE)

  • Zero year IU: Founding of the Galactic Empire
  • Zero year OOU: End of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

Difference between this and BBY/ABY: 19 years

  • Months: (Unknown)
  • Week days: (Unknown)

The zero year was the founding of the Galactic Empire. Dates were followed by BFE (Before the Formation of the Empire) or AFE (After the Formation of the Empire). Although Emperor Palpatine reset the calendar to the formation of the Empire, the CRC dating system persisted in some places.[39] This calendar is New Canon only, hence the persistence of GrS into the Imperial period in Legends sources.

Tapani/Coruscant Holidays[edit]

Major Coruscant Holidays Note: These holidays revolve around the Tapani Sector which lies in the Core Regions and it includes the system of Sesswanna, in which the capitol of Coruscant is located.

Expansion Week: A holiday that comes at the end of Selona and the start of Telona. Traditional celebrations include parades on worlds throughout the Core Regions and its known to be a 'party week' for it was begun during the early days of major amounts of exploration and discovery throughout the Tapani Sector.

Harvest Day: A holiday held on the 17th of Yelona. Originally the day marked the first day of farming throughout most of the Tapani Sector but as times changed the holiday has turned into little more than a day off from work for most throughout the core.

Mofat: On the 15th of Helona it is known that General Platt Mallar declared the great war of Yevethan had finally come to an end in the City of Mofat after five hard years of harsh combat on the world of Yeven. The holiday merely marks a day of rememberance and honor to all those who serve in the Imperial Military. It is also not uncommon for workers to have the day off.

Productivity Day: On the second Hetunda in the month of Nelona, a day in which most factories throughout the Tapani Sector take off for company celebration. These companies often strive throughout the year to try to maximize their productivity with as much efficiency as possible. It is mostly a business holiday.

Shelova Week: This traditional Herglic holiday celebrates commerce and family, two things which are interrelated to the Herglic race. A prominent holiday in the Tapani Sector, Shelova Week is a time to exchange gifts, make new business alliances, discuss trade arrangements, and spend time with family members. As the human population of the sector began interacting with the Herglics, they too began celebrating the holiday, although many humans simply take vacations instead of also developing business partnetships. On the Coruscant calendar, Shelova Week falls on the 11th of Melona and lasts till the 15th.

Republic Day: This holiday celebrates the first day that the Republic Senate met on Coruscant. The day has turned into little more than a day off from most standard jobs in the Core Regions since the formation of the Galactic Empire. This holiday falls on the 1st of Selona.

Thulpin: This day marks the beginning of the summer season throughout the Tapani Sector. Most use it as an excuse to go out and get drunk across the stars since its typically a day off from work. Thulpin falls on the 10th of Telona.

Winter Fete: This holiday in the Tapani Sector originally marked the winter equinox on the planet Pelagon. The original settlers there were the first to celebrate Winter Fete, and when they began settling other planets in the sector, the holiday went with them. Over time, the holiday was modified to coincide with Coruscant's Fete Week. Typically this holiday is begun with a week of celebrations, parades, present giving, huge parties and it ends by ringing in the new year throughout the Core Regions and most of the civilized other regions of the galaxy. In the current Tapani local calendar, Winter Fete falls on the very last week of the year, the 31st to the 35th of Welona.
