VEN Awards Main
The Vast Empire, like any other military organization, needs to reward members for outstanding performance. Promotion is not always a practical method of doing so, so to that end the Vast Empire Navy has developed a series of medals designed to reward outstanding service, bravery, and exemplary behavior. Please note that the Naval Commander in Chief has the right to bestow any and all awards he feels necessary, as well as to review and revoke awards he feels are unrightfully awarded.
Any Medal Award recommendations must be sent to the appropriate superior officer, Naval Executive Officer, and Naval Commander in Chief. The Form MUST include the ID Line designation of the recommended Member or it will not be included in the Fleet Medal Board, that is maintained by the Naval Executive Officer.

Active Awards[edit]
Merit Awards[edit]
These are rewards for excellent service to the Vast Empire, which are not only great in of themselves, but which also inspire others. These awards are typically proposed by one’s superiors, and given only with the approval of the Naval Commander in Chief.

These are awards for those in the VENA. Primarily these are to reward and recognise exceptional graduates of the Academy. However, there also rewards for those instructors who, through tireless effort, shape the future of the Vast Empire.
Commendations[edit]
These are self-awarded commendations, noting such OOC activity as recruiting others to the Vast Empire, or recognising milestones in story writing.
Service Ribbons[edit]
These are awards relating to the length of one’s service to the VEN, and also to the consistency of service.
Unit Citations[edit]
Special awards given by the Naval Commander in Chief for a limited time only, denoting an especially worthy pilot, squadron and/or ship’s crew.
High Council Awards[edit]
These highly prestigious awards are granted to those who service goes beyond excellence, and is regarded throughout the Vast Empire as exemplary. As their name implies they can only be bestowed by members of the High Council.
Retired Awards[edit]
Retired Merits Awards[edit]
These are awards for excellence that have been discontinued, though older veterans of the VEN may still bear them with pride.
Retired Commendations[edit]
These are commendations for OOC activities that have been discontinued.
Retired Unit Citations[edit]
These are old limited-time awards, once granted to worthy ships and squadrons, but no longer awarded by the Naval Commander in Chief.
Campaign Ribbons[edit]
These awards were for limited time competitions and campaigns.
Exam Ribbons[edit]
These were the awards attained for completing the old exams needed for promotion to the higher ranks of the VEN.
