Bio[edit]
Appearance[edit]
Ibram is a tall, slim, broad shouldered man with short dirty blonde hair and sharp blue eyes. He has a guarded and slightly withdrawn demeanour, like he’s constantly pressing through a crowd and doesn’t want to hit anyone. He wears casual attire whilst not on duty, and favours a green sleeveless Tracker's jacket– a personal item from home.
Personality[edit]
Ibram is usually an open and charming man with a smile on his face. Having had to do a lot of business for his Dad back home, he can be very diplomatic. He has a sharp wit about him, and is considered quite intelligent, although he prefers not to show it off. Ibram likes to “switch off” from the world every now and then, becoming very reserved, quiet and thoughtful, which is sometimes mistaken for reclusiveness. Ibram rarely gets into arguments, especially between friends, and likes to sit on the fence unless he feels strongly about something. Whilst never considered “the joker”, he never-the-less has a smart comment to make every so often. Ibram has always been respectful of his superiors, and is good at following orders that he agrees with/understands, however problems sometimes occur when he is told to do something he doesn’t like. And he’ll usually let you know that he doesn’t like it.
Quirks: Often likes to lead people through circular conversations/discussions, possibly in an attempt to confuse them/put them off guard. Also likes to play “Devil’s Advocate” a lot.
Worst Identified Trait: When he back chats. Thankfully, this is limited to when he disagrees with something, but this is usually based on his principles.
HistoryPersonal HistoryBorn on Yaga Minor, Ibram was raised by his father on the outskirts of the Yavvitiri Spaceport where he worked as a Deck-Chief. Ibram managed to pick up some skills in mechanics whilst watching his father work, but never devoted the time needed to master the subtle points. His father taught him how to pilot from an early age, and being close to a spaceport, he picked up various “tricks of the trade” from a few of the pilots that hung around the spaceport. Ibram was home-taught through the early stages of his life, however once his father set up his own business, Ibram was taught in a proper school in one of the neighboring cities. It is thought that his experiences with home-tutoring lead him to have a constant thirst for knowledge and new experiences. Ibram was bullied a lot during his early life, and whilst usually this makes a child anti-social and depressive, as Ibram grew older he grew more open, and eventually the bullying stopped. This helped him develop a “thick skin” and also made him good at hiding negative emotions. A maxim he has always held onto is “Always look on the bright side.” Not much is known about Ibram’s mother, only that she was killed in a shuttle collision shortly after giving birth. Ibram’s uncle is part of the local Imperial Garrison, and so Ibram was exposed to the Imperial Army from a very early point. After passing his exams at the age of 16, Ibram took a citizenship course and passed at 17, which enabled him to join his father in the local business. He spent a year working for his father, before deciding to 'float' for a bit whilst he figured out what he really wanted to do. Ibram eventually got engaged to a girl he had known since a very young age. Proposing a few months before he enlisted, Ibram and his fiancee Marisa had just moved into their own place before she also died in tragic circumstances. Whilst this didn't prompt Ibram's immediate enlistment, it did make Ibram want to leave Yaga Minor all together, although what he was going to do after that was anybody's guess. As it happened, the Carrack-class light cruiser Thespian had been docked at the shipyards for sometime by this point, having checked itself in for repairs. Ibram had run into some of the crew from time to time as he and Marisa were based at the spaceport. Because of the nature of some of his jobs, Ibram had made friends with some of the lower ranks. With repairs almost completed, the Thespian was due to depart within the week, and Ibram learned from the crew that they were headed to the Rheagent system. This was home to an Imperial splinter faction known as the Vast Empire. Ibram sought permission from the Captain to accompany them, and when they arrived in-system a few weeks later, Ibram enlisted in the VE Navy. Having lived in and around the spaceport all of his life, Ibram already possessed the basic skills he needed to join the Navy, and so was more suited to life as a pilot as opposed to a soldier like his uncle. Vast EmpireStarfighter Corp Ibram passed through his basic training quickly and with relative ease, and was placed in Viper Squadron. One of two new squadrons that had been formed fairly recently in order to raise morale in the Navy, Viper Squadron had only been on a few missions by the time Ibram caught up with them. Upon arrival, the young man from Yaga Minor threw himself at any task he was handed, taking the initiative whereever possible. When the whole Wing was mobilised to try and rescue Admiral Riel Fury from the clutches of the pirate cartels, it was Ibram and his wingman who were the first to find him. Naturally, he rose through the ranks quickly, and when Viper's exectuive officer was transffered out to start a new squadron, Ibram was the obvious replacement. At this point, even Ibram was a little bit shocked that his career had taken off so quickly. Whilst the pain from losing his fiancee and long since subsidied (even enough to start a few new romances), Ibram had found renewed purpose within his squadron. Nothing however could have prepared him for the sudden departure of his commanding officer, Tomas Dagoram. Within the space of a few short days, Ibram found himself without a CO, and in charge of a severly stunned squadron wanting to know what had happened to their commander. Never-the-less, Ibram rose to the occasion, keeping the squadron focused, yet distracted from what was happening with Dagoram, and lead them through the next few missions without a moment's hesitation. Eventually, it was clear that Dagoram wasn't coming back, and eventually Ibram was promoted as the official commander of the squadron. That started what some could call a 'New Era' for Viper Squadron, and Ibram Tyrol continued to lead the squadron through some of their toughest missions ever, and would go on to become Viper's longest serving commander in it's history. Viper Squadron ended up being instrumental in severael key locations along the frontier. Unfortunatly, this golden age was not to last. Partly as a result of their sucess, and partly due to some internal turmoil within the VE as a whole, Ibram and his squadron were seconded to the Intelligence division to help them with their black ops projects. One of these projects, which would later be known as the 'Grey doctrine', involved the squadron commiting acts of covert terrorism against their own people. This period severely challagned and strained the squadron, especially Ibram himself. Increasingly worn down by what was being asked of him, Ibram had begun to change as a person, and was only awaiting the final straw that would tip him over the edge. That straw came when the squadron took part in the disaterous Battle of Lehon, late in 9 ABY. Ambushed by a New Republic Task Force, Ibram found himself out gunned and surrounded, and despite getting help from the rest of Phoenix Wing, a combination of bad intelligence and bad judgement delt massive casualties to his squadron, the Wing, and even the local civilian population. This was too much for Ibram to handle, and in a moment of silent rage, tried to pull his squadron out of the battle against the direct orders of his superior, Lieutenant Commander Atrasin. Atrasin, known for commanding with an iron fist, wouldn't tolerate treasonous behavoir from anyone, especially during a battle. He personally shot down Ibram's fighter, and took control of the squadron himself. Fifth Fleet It's unclear how he got there, but Ibram eventually found himself at the central medical complex of Abrea, receiving treatment for his extensive wounds. Despite making a full recovery, he asked that some traces of his injuries be left as a reminder as to what had happaned before. Upon leaving the hospital, he discovered that several weeks had past. Not only that, but his squadron had been decomissioned, and all traces of his former subordinates gone. Before he could follow up the matter, he was summoned by Admiral Boon of the Fifth Vast Imperial Fleet, who informed him that whilst most of his squadron was alive and well in other units, he would not be allowed to go back to them. Seeing potential in a currently fragile officer, Boon transferred Ibram over to his Fleet, and appointed him to his staff. Ibram is currently serving aboard the Carrack-class Light Cruiser Excession.
